Just some background info. he is actually an english teacher for Turkish college students. so is an ideal teacher for english people wishing to have a command of the Turkish language. As a side note ther are 2 letter I's in Turkish so although his advert looks like 'Y can teach you turkish' - its actually the printing that at fault not the teaching. book lessons with confidence.

Hi everyone! To whom ever teach some turkish to foreigners: Please start letting them know that they are the only ones calling minibuses "dolmush".
-
Is that right? [:o]
-
So, what do you call them? Kamakaze?
-
MINIBUSES! I got taught it then re-corrected by Solemar!!!
-
so what's a minibus called then?
-
MINIBUS!
-
IN TURKISH!
-
So, what is a Dolmus?
And, if they are all called Minbuses, why are the regular stops called "Dolmus Duragi" and not "Minibus Duragi" ???
Or, is it just another case of TIT Syndrome?
-
It must be a blonde moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
its dolmus. take no notice of all this minibus business. Its dolmus in Turkey and it means stuffed. same as dolmades.
-
A Dolmus was a minibus which had 8 seats on it and would not travel until all of the seats were full. A minibus which you all call a "Dolmus" doesnt have to be full before it can travel.
-
Dolmus, Shmulmus! They're still bloody mad!!
-
Cutz mukemme!
Now we know the actual visual difference between a minibus and a "dolmush", what is "minibus" in Turkish???
Would it be otobus for bus and kucuk for mini?
-
Just the same "minibüs".
-
Hi
Dolmus is a general name, it is said for rowboat, motorboat, car, minibus etc. which is used to carry passengers. :)
