I've not heard that one either and we are FEM-DER registered, so should hear of any changes that would affect our business to that extent.

A friend of mine has just sold her house but has had to get a residency permit to do so.

Already heard that you need residency to sell your car, even if you didn't need one when you bought it. But it seems a bit dumb to need an RP to sell your house. What if you are selling up and going back to UK, Germany where ever, what would be the point of residency. Oooops I think another shot in the foot by the powers that be, are they SO desperate for the revenue from RP's? If they are looking for a mass exodus by expats they are well on the way to success.

So Max, what you are saying is that every Tourist property owner has to become a resident to sell there property, even though they are clearly not a resident, so where is the logic in that?

This being Turkey, it seems 'logic' does not really count for much.

There is NO need or requirement to hold or obtain residency in order to sell your property in Turkey. I have no idea why your friend was told that Tom. Whoever advised her of that caused her unnecessary expense. She might want to ask for it back.

Maybe they kindly helped them get their RP for a small fee.
