I would agree with Ovacikpeedoff's suggestion that you do not cut all ties with UK until you are absolutely certain it's what you want to do. We have lived here for just over 3 yrs and have rented our house in England and only rented here. We are moving back in April and I am so glad we didn't sell up and buy a property in Turkey. I'm not saying we haven't enjoyed our time here, but a lot of things are happening now between the Turkish and the foreigners that I feel it is the right time to return to the UK and our family. Good luck for whatever you decide to do.  :)

That's because the Turkish legal system is based on the Napoleonic Code. One of the main tenets of this is that you ARE guilty until proven innocent.

KKOB that is fine but to prove anyone guilty you must have evidence.

Look, I didn't invent the Napoleonic Code. But, I do accept that it's way things are done in Turkey. :D

It does not matter what code it is. To charge anyone with any crime there has to be evidence and not just hearsay. Maybe that is why Turkey even spends more time at the Court of Human Rights than the Brits do.

What about the Libyan system - guilty until executed! Seemed to keep crime levels down for a while.
