ASSUMING your son arrived 10th April, he has 180 days to spend 90 days in Turkey. 180 days from the 10th April takes the final exit date to the 7th October, he can come and go as many times as he wants, as long as the total number of days IN Turkey does not exceed 90. Adjust the dates to when your son ACTUALLY arrived.

Can someone explain what happens if you want to come back on your visa and the 180 days are up in the middle of your stay?
e.g. you arrive on day 175 you want to spend 10 days here, you have not used anywhere near your 90 days allowance?
Can you buy a new visa before the old one runs out?

you,ve answered your own question, if you are over your 180 days, you will be fined for the days over when you leave.

From my understanding you can't buy a new one until the 181st day.

That is also my understanding Flower Pot. If your holiday straddles the 180 days you would have to leave on the 180th day for say Rhodes or Meis and return to Turkey on the 181st day to obtain a new 180 day visa at port of entry.
