Quad Bike Accident in Ovacik
« on: September 18, 2014, 12:55:41 PM »
Taxi overtaking (and too fast) hit British tourists on quad bike today - witnesses report that tourists were wearing crash helmets but they flew off on impact and there are some pretty severe looking head injuries.

Sad news.

Bloody taxi drivers always driving too fast. I hope the holiday makers are ok. Helmets shouldn't fly off if they are strapped on properly.

I've lost count of the number of times i've seen taxi's overtaking vehicles that are already overtaking on the

Ovacik road and the hills down to Fethiye.  Absolute nutters. Best wishes to the injured.

What a horrible accident hope the riders recover from their injuries.

Those bloody taxi drivers are mad cannot believe the amount of times I have come down the hill in to Fethiye and they overtake me on the bends with the double white lines only to find them sitting at the lights at the very bottom  >:( >:(

In all the years I have been coming to Turkey I used a taxi once and that enough for me, too dangerous drives  >:(

Got a taxi tonight in Ovacik. Driver reckoned the tourists had been drinking. Said one woman had broken legs and the man had whatever injury,s pointing to his head and ear. Also said taxi driver was in shock.

That's the thing with bloody tourists, riding quadbikes on the correct side of the road. I don't know the details but I can say my experience is that whenever there is an accident that involves a local and a tourist, it is pretty usual for the rumour to be put about that the tourist was drinking/drunk.

Judging by the time of the first post (Scunner's) about this, this must have happened in the morning, I very much doubt anyone would be drinking that early? Especially when everyone is aware that those quads can be very dangerous, as are a lot of drivers on those roads. I do hope they are not too bad and make a good recovery. :-\
