Hello all,

Can anyone advise on where the best places are to eat gluten free?? Also, is gluten free bread and beer available to buy anywhere in Fethiye?

Baba Furin bakery in Calis will bake gluten free bread, but you need to order it the day before.....

Barbarella (spelling?) in Çaliş is known for gluten free cakes/desserts.

I am sure most restaurants can accommodate gluten free diners.

At Mozaik Bahçe (Turkish menu) we can - just say when ordering.

Also Migros and probably the other large supermarkets too have a gluten free stand of various items.

I'm Coeliac and not too many places understand about gluten free. I tend to stick with plain grilled meat, chicken ect and salads or veg. I steer clear of gravy and sauces. The cassaroles do tend to be cooked in oil and tomatoe bases so not a problem. Migros do some biscuits and little cupcakes but not much else apart from flour to "make your own" stuff. Barbella's is under new management so not sure on them now. Meeting Point advertise GF but I haven't asked for anything there.

Yep KKOB, I printed some off when we came to live here nearly 8 years ago. Unfortunately quite a lot of the waiters still didn't get it !! Best to be safe and choose carefully. I'm wary even of places advertising GF as there is still a risk of cross contamination with baked goods. Depends on how sensitive you are to gluten whether it's worth the risk or not. I just get the trots, but I know what damage I'm doing to my gut.

Really strange but I have problems at home with the usual white bread pasta,pastry etc however when in Turkey I don't.I wonder if it is the flour they use or just the fact Iam more relaxed and stress free

I'm with you there Steve. Bread doesn't agree with me in the Uk but I have no problems in Turkey.
I think it is the preservatives that cause the problem, so maybe none in Turkish flour? Or different?
