I assume that to be at military school one of their parents could be in the military. Perhaps they're under arrest.

A Turkish friend said they let them go after a few hours.
Another friend said not to believe anything in UK papers as they all have a downer on Turkey.

Both links seem to go to the same story.
It does indeed say they went to prison.  But doesnt say how long for.

Any guess as to why that might be? (Apart from the Daily Mail, of course, where we don't have to guess).

I don't know. I don't understand the Mail either.
The Express have been awful.
Especially their jihadist picture of copy cat acts like in Tunisia with a photo of Ovacik.

Sorry, links should have gone to two very different publications - firstly the Sabah, an intensely pious, pro Erdogan publication and BiaNet, an intensely anti Erdogan publication.

Her's the correct Sabah link:  http://www.sabah.com.tr/gundem/2016/07/21/62-kuleli-askeri-lise-ogrencisi-tutuklandi

Kuleli is not dissimilar to Welbeck College or the Military School at Harrogate in the UK - kids that go there are on a career path to become officers in the Turkish Military.

They have NOT all been released, although its likely that most will be.  Poor little buggers were given guns with empty magazines to defend the college!  They will fall into the same category as many of the army conscripts who took part who have already been released on the basis they were carrying out what they thought to be lawful orders (can't find the links, but this was reported in a couple of places).

The Daily Mail is a "newspaper" that has, as a business plan:The stimulation and exploitation of hatred. It believes this will maximize the profits it makes from white, angry, zenophobic/racist bigots. This has proved to be a successful strategy for them.
