EV Referendum

We've had a referendum on leaving the EU; now can we have one on leaving Eurovision. The UK pays a large share of this ludicrous farce, nobody in Europe likes us and so they don't vote for us and we can't be bothered to put in a decent entry. This year's "song" sound likes a cat being tortured and I have to pay for sending it to be derided by the rest of Europe. Liberate the UK now! Where is UKIP when you need it to do something useful?

Don't deprive me of an evening's hilarious entertainment!

There's plenty of highbrow, serious offerings on our state television network but this is a whole evening of terrible music; national embarrassment for all concerned; much discussion regarding who votes for whom; family bickering regarding the merits or otherwise of each act; texts galore with friends here and in Europe; comments from Graham Norton (not in a slightly pickled Woganesque way but still funny) and of course, bragging rights for anyone picking the winner.

There's plenty on the box that's a lot less entertaining than this annual festival of silliness.

Plus, anything so trivial, pointless and farcical that really cheeses off so many people can't be all bad, especially given the fact that so many take it seriously!

Long live Eurovision - grab a bottle (or two) of wine and party on dude!

It's a great vehicle for up and coming artists and songwriters. I have a friend who's been trying for years to get a song accepted. She co wrote one that got to the live tv event in Latvia and was gutted it didn't make it.

It's watched by millions - even if most of us laugh our way through it. Youngsters even have Eurovison parties.
