Title: Uzumhan open?
Post by: Rindaloo on May 21, 2008, 14:22:19 PM
Anyone know if Uzumhan is open.  Might sound an odd question but we went there last year one evening and it was shut.  Haven't been since but plan to take friends there and not sure if all's well there.

Anyone know??

Confused, I posted this in the 'Uzumlu' section and it has slid into the 'places to Visit' section.  Can someone tell me why?

I guess whoever moved it wasn't aware it was in Uzumlu - I've moved it there now

Yeah, I moved it from the locked announcements section, I did not know if it was a place, restuarant or shop - so guessed (wrong)

Thanks Scunner.

OK redding.  I was beginning to think I had to have a degree to post, LOL!!

So.... -anyone know about Uzumhan being open??  Last year we saw the chap there and asked him if he would be open that night, this was late Sept, and he said yes.  We went there about 8 and it was shut!  Haven't been since but the friends who missed it last year are back again next week and I don't fancy taking them for a re run of last years disappointment...  ROFL!!

have heard lots of good reviews about the new chef at the wine house - so hope they have it right now and that he stays !!  Uzumhan started off very promising but out last couple of meals there (end of last year) were dire to say the least.....

In my experience over the past 2 years the only place to guarantee decent food at a reasonable price in Uzumlu is Mustie's. You may have to wait if there is a crowd in but hey, who's in a hurry here!

Ah yes, we go to him the most.  But we wanted to take our friends somewhere different because they have been to Mustafa's already.  And it is easily within walking distance.

We have to remember to take our torches and we have been accompanied back by one of the village dogs because we had spare pizza for our dogs.  Incidentally the Jandarma turned up one night because strange torches were seen (carried by us).  They apologised when we explained it was us and a buyuk kopek.  We said thank you.  We were happy to know that, in this country at least, the police WILL turn up to something suspicious.  And promptly...

We were in the wine house at new year and there was a new chef then who was excellent. Is this the same 'new chef' we are talking about or has there been another 'new chef' since new year.

We went in Uzumhan when it first opened and were not impressed. I'm not saying the steak was tough but it asked me outside for a fight! They had not been open long and may have been having teething problems.

We are coming over on Wednesday and will stick to the tried and tested ie Musties and the wine house. For something special we like the Saat in Calis. More expensive than Musties and the WH but a nice setting and excellent food. Ta for the recommendation Chris T.

Well they would have troble with their teeth if the steak was THAT tough, LOL!!

No seriously, we had several really good meals in Uzumhan last year.  Maybe we were lucky.
