Interesting first post. Sorry, advert.

Lived here for a while and enjoy fesetters(however its spelt)very much. I agree with your food choice like them ourselves and the owners...this isnt a competition...its advice for people that theres something new in our village!...
-
Not a competition of course, but experience tells me (and a few thousand others) that when a first post is a glowing endorsement for a bar or restaurant, things are rarely as they might first seem. I personally disregard any recommendation from a first poster who couldn't even be bothered to introduce themselves first and do you know what, I'm generally right :)
If a further prediction was sought, it would be the return of "clover" to ridiculously accuse CBF of being a forum where the opinions of newcomers are not wanted. I love the opinions of newcomers as opinions can be fresh and different to those of us who don't see things with new eyes. What I can't stand is the attempt at a free advert - or more to the point, the belief that we on CBF are so easy to hoodwink.
-
Fesetta's has had lot's of great commments on here over the years and is still a great place to eat and chat.
If you do a search Clover using the name you will find lots of positive comments about the place.
It's definately not a new restaurant in the village.

sorry that I did not fill out the introductory part about my self, that will amended.

I win again lol
That is correct, things are up for discussion.
-
Just to add to the discussion - we have used the Fesetta a lot and have always been pleased with the meals there and with the friendliness of Ismail and Seray, the owners. The cost of a meal there will be even better now that Ismail has reduced the price of alcoholic drinks substantially for the summer.
-
I think you'll find the reduction of drink prices (which were increased at the start of the season)has more to do with the drink prices at Alya's being so low.
They're not the only business that has had to look at it's pricing since he opened. ;)
Competition is a wonderful thing for us consumers.:D
No fear of the 5tl large Efes in Uzumlu as it's 3.5tl in some places. 8)just don't tell that lot south of the hills in Calis or they'll all be up here ;)

Let's not forget to mention the Cadianda, Grape Garden, Uzum Han, Wine Bar and others. All great eating places :D
Wish someone would open a Chinese.
-

Pitty the food prices at Fesettas have gone up by 50% compared to this time last year. If I have the choice of sitting on a plastic garden chair by the roadside or in a proper restaurant guess my choice. Also don't like the fact that English food has crept on to the menu and a bar? in the middle of the rstaurant, what's that all about. We are in Turkey we like to eat Turkish food. Sorry Smiley.

But can't be arsed to use the guys real turkish name!!!!!!
-
Moonfleet there's still plenty of Turkish food on the Fesetta's menu, enough to keep you eating Turkish meals for a week or more....If you don't want to eat British food then don't order it..
Sometimes those of us who live here like a change hence why there is a choice.

I'm a medical student. Because of my education my parents 'ismail and Seray' do this job. My father is retired in fact and my mother has never worked.
There is a bar in the restaurant because in there almost nobody eats inside. In front of the bar people have a chat, drink and may be watch football matches. And we did the bar because our costumers wanted it. Many people like sitting on roadside under the grape plants in a cool weather.
May be you can choose another place but other people can prefer to eat under grape plants in a cool shady place and after meal they can prefer to surf on the internet by their laptops or our computer while they drink their coffee or tea.
We have many Turkish and English food types. I think you didn't looked at the menu well. You said prices got high. I don't know any place that beer and wine are 3tl in Üzümlü.
And that's all that they can do. They couldn't spend so much as start.
So I'm really sorry about that. You deserve better dear Kerstin Langdon...
I wrote because i read it and i really felt bad. Normally i only read. This writing includes many negative prejudgements.
In this subject i wrote first and last. If i did a mistake i apologize about that from all of you.
Thank you all...

I wish your parents well in their business - but the next few months are going to be quite difficult for them with Park Alya offering food at such cheap prices. At least your parents are honourable, decent and hardworking they deserve to succeed. They will not be able to operate their business at a loss because they are not using someone else's money to fund their venture. I wish them well and you, too in your education.
-
Elaina, please don't let your feelings in one topic seep into others. It will not help in any way at all.
-
Moonfleet's comment re plastic chairs - these chairs I consider to be more comfortable and bigger than some of the narrow, upright, small chairs in other restaurants. She doesn't mention the fact that English dishes are on the menu in other Uzumlu restaurants - I wonder why. The bar is a good place for people to sit and have a drink without the formality of having a meal. The Fesetta is a place that some of us permanent residents like to frequent throughout the year. Everyone is assured of a good welcome and a friendly atmosphere.
-
an excellent restaurant and always very welcoming
ps =shrimp casserole!!!! yummmmmmmmy!
-
What is the problem with English dishes on menus? Even in Indian restaurants here there are English meals for those that want them. I certainly don't but if others do I couldn't care less!
-
Phil keep quiet about the shrimp casserole or it will sell out too quickly....Mouth watering just thinking about it :D ;)
-
Just waiting for the Irish stew !x

Hi, just a mention about eating out in Uzumlu
I have had friends over for a holiday and we have taken them to eat out at:
A) Winehouse :Thanks to Winehouse team for a super birthday treat for my friend,
food was great and we had lovely birthday decorations + birthday cake all provided for
us.
B) Musti's: great food, good atmosphere (Thanks for the Cherries) no complaints,
C) Fesssetas: great food, good atmosphere, free starter/tea/coffee and no complaints
Actually all in all we got what we paid for and enjoyed the differences in establishments.
Will do the same with each of our friends who come to visit and share the custom between each restaurant. ;)
-
Why not try the place above the public loos in the mosque square ? Probably not the most salubrious of locations, granted, but well worth a visit and we thought the food very good. recommended by some good friends - would suggest eating in between the Immam's incandations. Called Selale (Chelale). v obliging and not expensive.
-
Went there for lunch a couple of days ago, it was lovely. A hidden garden with its own waterfall, owners very nice and the pide's were some of the best we have had here. 2 pide's, 2 cokes, salad and complimentary cay's = 13Tl. Excellent value. Thanks Calvin for telling us about this place.
-
Shhh dont tell to many folk!!!!
-
We have found this place tooooooo.
:D
Out on Friday for 21 days.
See you all soon
Can`t wait
-

Up the stairs next to the Toilets!! cant miss the new banner .Enjoy the secret Garden ,you would not think you were in the middle of Uzumlu !.Calvin

thanks

I often wonder how some folk find the UK airports let alone Turkey!
-
Well I have been useing fesettas for years even when it was owned by mustafa and now it is the best it has ever been you say about the food some people dont like turkish food so they cant just surve turkish for you. I love sitting under the grape vines and the people there are great. You say you want turkish food have you ever been to a real turkish resturant they have plastic chairs your lucky you dont have to sit on the floor. fesettas size çok seviyorum xxxxxxxxx
-
Scorcher, bet you don't use a white stick ;)
-
Not as yet xx
-
Had a meal on the corner as you turn to enter the road leading to the village from the main road on the right hand side - family run (don't know if it has a name) basically they dish up whatever they have cooked that day so would be different on a daily basis, its all Turkish food for those adventures types, yesterday, rice, chicken and pototos in a tomato and green bean sauce, typically Turkish but very very tasty and cheap (free of us) because she was so happy to have Tourists coming in!!, watermelon and tea served on the house.
So you are correct Reyhan we sat on plastic chairs - but well worth it as we love Turkish food, going back on Monday for a Patlican Dish!
Only open during the day I believe.
-
Winehouse are starting special offers.Wednesdays, meals buy one get one free, Tuesday and `Thursdays "happy hour"Drinks buy two get one free 9-00 till 11-00.Son coming over next week......what perfect timing!.T.
-
Denise are you sure you didnt stumble into someones livivg room but they fed you anyway, ha ha
-
What a shame that the Winehouse couldn't have chosen one of the other 6 days in the week to have a special offer. I'm sure everyone would want to take advantage of their great offer, but they chose a night they knew would clash with the Cadianda quiz fund raising nights :(....
7 nights and 5 restaurants, the maths is simple especially on a regular fund raising night.
Shame of it is that it is the local children or the Dolphin fund which will suffer.
-
Don't think it will have too much effect as the Wine House doesn't have a garden and who wants to sit inside on beautiful days/evenings like this!
-
yes Dycedon, perhaps I looked like I needed feeding up!! (Chance would be a fine thing)! how is one suppose to watch ones weight with all these food offers?
-
I cant understand why they cant get their act together, not only the Quiz night on a Wednesday but also Grape Gardens BBQ night, just does not make sense, at least The Alya did their research and organised the Curry night for a Thursday.
-
If the special offer is on for the whole day on Wednesdays, it would surely be possible to eat at the Winehouse and then pop down to the Cadianda for the quiz night? The quiz is on every 2 weeks is it not?Simples :) Plus, not all the tables are indoors - we like to sit on their outdoor terrace upstairs and enjoy the ambiance there, and their food is fantastic.
-
The offer is usually for evenings, at least all the previous ones have been evening offers. Most folk I know go out for an evening meal when it is cooler can't see there being a big call for a full restaurant meal in the heat of the day when most people are doing jobs or chilling around the pool. Yes, the quiz,is only fortnightly and it raises a lots of money for different causes so why plan to clash at all? There are 6 other days to choose from and at least 14 of our regulars at quiz night are regulars to the Winehouse and we may have wanted to take advantage, every week, of their BOGOF offer as well.
Simple planning and a little thought is all it would have taken to keep everyone happy.
Such a shame
-
Can't believe this topic. We are blessed by a variety of restaurants in Uzumlu The Wine House is just offering us choice. As a non devotee of quizzes I love the idea of having an alternative venue where I am assured of a warm welcome. Come on everyone lets be supportive of all the wonderful and diverse choices we have and just enjoy the food on offer.
-
For once I have to agree with Rosy ,Ian and Sener have been great supporters of the quiz over the last year ,at the end of the day ther are in buisiness to make money .Not all expats and tourists are up for the quiz ,as Rosy said it good to have a choice ,perhaps Memhet should be told to change his barbeque night!!! think not!!!! at the moment there are enough folk about to make all functions a success. Rant over . Good luck with the quiz tonight. we will be there
-
Well said Rosy and Calvin. I really don't see a problem here at all. Eating between 6pm and 7.30 once a fortnight would not bother me in the slightest. I would then be able to go and enjoy the quiz afterwards if I wanted to. It starts at 8 pm ish does it not? Business is business and like Calvin said Ian and Sener from the Winehouse have always supported the quiz and animal aid charities. We are being offered a very good deal here as far as I can see and it seems petty to moan about the day they have chosen.
-
Yes its great to have all these choices as far as I am concerned and didn't Mehmet at the Grapes start his BBQ night last year on a Wednesday knowing the Quiz took place everyother Wednesday, didn't read any complaints about that!,
The Winehouse will email local residents and holiday makers alike about their special nights/occassions to anyone who leaves their contact details.
-
Fi was having technical difficulties with her attitude yesterday. She apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Avoidance was/is suggested for safety precautions. ;) 8)
-
Us ladies have a perfect excuse for that!! LOL love ya anyway xx
-
What a conversation going on wowwwwwww!!!!
-
Hi Jackal48xxx missing the barbeque night again see you all next week
-
I was talking to Mehmet at the Grapes Garden last night and he expressed his dissappointment at his barbeque being brought into this discussion he says that he is not providing any sort of entertainment and is simply offering a barbeque as an alternative to a quiz. Is that not what freedom of choice is all about?

I expect all the restaurant owners don't like to see/hear these things written as after all I am sure they are only trying to provide a service to one and all and what doesn't suit one doesn't suit another which is why choices are great, as I was only pointing something out when the Winehouse was mentioned in this discussion as starting something on the same night at the quiz and BBQ! for which there was an apology (read previous quotes) and it was not mean't as a slur on Mehmet at all!
-
Had a brilliant meal last night in Uzumlu, excellent meal and excellent company!!!
-
Why not say where?
-
Thats a no then!!!
-
Dear moonfleet I seem to remember you using our resturant every day so our resturant cant be that bad. Do you remember the time your husband forgot his wallet in our resturant with lots of money in did we ring you straight away yes we did maybe if we stole that money from you we would have beable to afford wooden chairs just for you. I think it is such a shame that we treat people with respect and you wright somethink like this about our resturant. We are trying to earn money the right way but people like you should be ashamed of yourselves. When you was getting your free coffee from us for one year we was propaly the only resturant you went to then why because you was getting somethink for nothink well we have loads of customers that are all our friends we dont need customers or friends like you so do not come to our resturant or our phamacy from ismail fesettas

[:o]

i have been barred from some places, but never a pharmacy:D
-
Sounds like if they go in the restaurant they might be needing a pharmacy :D

It's the heat even up here in the cooler climes of Uzumlu.
Fesseta's is still a fab place to have great value food with wonderful owners.

Yes Fesettas is a brilliant place. They do lovely Turkish food. But they make THE BEST Fish and Chips. Yes its Brit grub, but, frankly, its nice to have that as a change.....
-
Having always had from and given to others a really warm welcome, I find the post of the Klu Klux Klan poster a bit confusing????? Agree that Fesettas is a homely and friendly place to be, as are most restaurants in Uzumlu. So for a good night out eat in Uzumlu.

I thought it was fethiye given off the light pollution, must have been the fires.

I`m back next week and can not wait for the warm welcome.
-
Was at Fesetta last night and Ismail is obviously reacting to the competition and plans to extend their menu. He told me that they were getting an orange juicer today and as from this week every Friday they would be doing spaghetti(Bolognese and Neapolitan). Their next idea is to start serving "English" type pancakes, no date for this yet - think he is waiting for a lesson as to how to make.
-
Turkish savoury pancakes would be good!
-
I have just read through the postings on this thread again and I think the point a lot of people miss is that we want ALL the bars restaurants etc to do well and it may come across wrongly but the criticism is only because we do want all business to do well so that we can enjoy the food and the special offers they have, we really do want them all to do WELL.
-
Cliff, do you want them to do well[?]:D ;)
-
I totally agree with you Cliff, but it does not help when they hold 'specials' on the same nights. There are only so many of us who live/holiday here and holding specials on the same nights dilutes the customers not increases them. 7 nights in the week, 6 restaurants, the maths isn't difficult!
-
Agree with Friar Tuck, we do want all the restaurants to do well, and I for one like the option of choosing which special night to attend. If each one had a special on a different night, some would do well with their regulars drumming up support and others not. I like going to places to meet new people and have always enjoyed this experience, we have lovely people here in Uzumlu. In UK separate options on different days seems to equal cliques forming with the attending problems. I love the choice, and celebrate them by visiting all (except one in respect to my TAB sister) We are so lucky to have a wide choice and to be treated so well by staff who quickly become our friends. Long may this continue
-
Can't quite understand your comments fully Rosy. Uzumlu has a large influx of tourists each year as well as those that live here,or visit regularly as we do, and who want to 'spread the wealth' so to speak. More 'specials' nights equals more options, and thus more opportunities for visitors to take advantage of these. I can't see any restaurant losing out, by having these specials nights on different days of the week, as surely they must do, when the these nights clash.
-
I do agree with you Eric if they could get their heads together and sort different nights for different events instead of trying to compete on the same nights, that way we all lose out, the restaurateur and the customer, Uzumlu is not like Calis or Fethiye where you have 200 bar / restaurants chasing 5000 customers, in Uzumlu you have 7 / 8 bars pide parlours restaurants chasing at most may be 200 / 300 people in the season even less out of season, there is not enough customers to go round to fill all the places all the time, I also think this year more people are staying indoors for barbies etc as the recession here in the UK starts to bite and also interest rates in Turkiye are half of what they were 5 years ago far less Lira about, yes BM06 of course I want them ALL to do well but if business only goes to one or two then what happens to the others [?][?]
-
Well, who'd a thought it:D:D
