Stephen you don't need to ask the same question every day - someone will be along soon enough who knows the answer.

We had guests staying at this Hotel in September who were attending our Son's wedding, we called a few times and had a drink.   The prices seemed comparable with the rest of Calis and the food seemed very reasonable priced.  However, you always have the choice of walking(or wandering ;D )down the road and eating and drinking at one of the many other places.
There is a new place called the Guitar Bar which is just off the main street in Calis in the old square. There is entertainment every night. It was probably the cheapest place we ate at.  We had a couple of drinks and a starter then two huge plates of kebabs with all the trimmings and the price was 48 Lira.

It's not a problem at all - I was just saying so answers can stay in one topic (which also benefits people who might come here to ask the same question in future).

My answer is, the Oykun is one of the most recommended hotels on CBF - I have been there many times to meet customers - and bar prices are no different really to the bars and restaurants outside. Which means to me, buy a coke now and again and 2 litres at the shop on the corner for use on the the balcony   :)

Karennina,
yes you can walk in and pay for breakfast or any meals if you are not staying there , breakfast buffet is excellent , almost always 2 or 3  hot dishes as well included in the price  as many cups of tea / coffee you wish , beware the baked beans are horrid more like big  butter beans  in tomatoe sauce,  i cant remember the cost sorry, its very  reasonable , clients in the roof top apartments [ self catering ] of the hotel and some  locals pop in there  often .

Yes, we were offered the menu when we called up in the morning to collect our family and friends.  It all looked really nice.

Very interesting - I've stayed in most of the popular Calis hotels and while the breakfasts have always been ok (and included in the room price), I've never had one that I could say I would have paid for. Must try the Oykun sometime (to stay, not to go for breakfast).

We used to stay at the Oykun until we decided we preferred an apartment and would certainly stay again.  The breakfasts are definitely some of the best we've ever had.  Chef is there every day to make fresh pancakes (yum!) or omlettes or will do fried eggs if you ask.    :)

i would recommend if you can ask to stay in the old/original block as the rooms are larger than the new block and most have a bath/shower....nice to have a choice..you really cannot beat the oyun lovely family run hotel...owners plus their son are all hands on..  :)  :)

Definitely agree there turkeysue - I was going to say that   ;)

Think the rooms are generally quieter at that side away from the dual carriageway and nicer bathrooms.

My daughter stayed there last year and they did packages, where you pay for your food for 2days 3 days and so on.  Worth giving the hotel an email they are very helpful

Would certainly agree with that - one of just a tiny number of Calis hotels who bother to reply to emails.

Have stayed at Oykun on two occasions,as everyone says the Drinks are comparable with everywhere else.Food is ok,but you have such an excellent array of restaurants on your doorstep with a far nicer view, its a shame to stay in. I don't know if the breakfast chef is still there, but he would cook an egg anyway you wanted it and one morning offered to fry me up some potatos to go with it as a remedy for a bad stomach. Guess what it worked a treat.  ;D ;D

hi, we have just arrived back from staying at the Oykun hotel for 2 weeks and it is an absolute fantastic place to stay. There was so much choice to eat at breakfast, the chef would cook your eggs any way you liked them, then there was the usual meats, cheeses, olives etc, we have never seen so many jams too choose from! The black cherry was to die for! The drinks and snacks from the bar were very reasonable priced,2.50 lira for a bottle of coke, sprite, Fanta  etc,1.50lira for a large bottle of water .We loved it that much we have already booked to go back next year in July/Aug for 2 weeks! Lovely ,spotless hotel.

Keep in mind Stephen, it's very hot in July and August and not like May/June.  However... as the saying goes...Some like it hot...

That's true ,we don't mind the heat to be honest, we stayed july/aug in 2009 for 3wks and im sure it went as high as 57degrees ? we will make sure we take lots of factor 50 with us. On one of the days we were there this year it went up to 51degrees ,we had to take a photo of it because we couldn't believe it.  :)
