Hello everyone

Am a new poster. Just buyin a house in Uzumlu and would like to introduce ourselves. We are Al an Sue. From Salford. Still workin but hopin to go part time after April an spend lots of time in Turkey/Fethiye/Calis. Got two boys who have flown the nest. Always wanted to buy abroad an took a holiday in June, saw what we liked an took the plunge. Are about to make the final payment. Is Uzumlu OK? Seems just what we want. Any warts?

Uzumlu is beautiful if we were buying a house to live in full time that is where we would choose.I am sure you will love it. We have friends who live there and they have a lovely life.

Hi Al,owned aproperty in the village for just over ayear now on the road, if thats the right word!behind the green petrol station. Not come across any warts so far but have just learned that the Pide restaurant on the main road has been forced to close. Does anyone know why? A great pity really cos the food was excellent.

Hi both
We too are having house built in Uzumlu it's such a tranquil place to live.

Mykwarker: We are behind the green petrol station up the lane (house being built now) so we must be near neighbours?

Salford Al: good luck and see you around sometime.

Shame about the Pide restaurant closing, as when we ate there the food was fabulous. Anyone know the reason?

I thought that the council closed it down because the other restaurant owners had complained that he was taking their trade because he was to popular !!!! He was always busy, this sounds about right for Turkish logical thinking.

Has he taken over the former Asparvo restaurant?

The council closed him down, claiming that parking outside was a hazard as it was the start of the duel carriageway. Illogical but thats because the true reason is as Batman says. ie other restaurant owners were jealous. The council cant say that can they. He hasnt taken over the old asparva restaurant.

Thats a real shame as the food there was brilliant, the garlic bread was to die for! And the people there were lovely.

Thanks to you all for responding. Uzumlu sounds wonderful. Is it easy to get around or do you need a car? How many bars/restaurants are there in the village? Can you get everything you need foodwise in the village or do you need a trip to Fethiye?
