I have just found a company in England that will insure your holiday home in Turkey. They are quite rteasonable and also included in the price is public liabillity insurance.
You can take this policy out in England and also there is no limit to the time you leave your property empty.
All documentation is in English and the policy is underwritten by LLoyds.
If anyone is interested I will post the website. (if I am allowed to do that?)

Only hearsay but I was told either Finans or Garanti would insure wooden costructions. :) Not sure which one it was though.

Colmoor 'But can he get insurance cover for houses built from wood. no-one up till now in turkey can get that. let alone earthquake insurance included as well'

I've done a fair of research into wooden houses, as i would like to build one, and it is very difficult even impossible to get ins cover for wooden houses. There is a policy for stone and timber houses though.

We could not get cover from Finnans bank for our stone house. We were told that because the tapu said "kargir ev" which they say means made from hand crafted stone they would not insure it as it  does not have metal re-inforcing
We got it at a good price in England.
