bringing car from uk and finding insurance to cove

Has anybody got any advice with regard to getting insurance cover to drive a car from the uk to turkey. i have a friend who will be bringing his car but so far has been unable to find any insurance company let alone he has already to cover his car once he crosses from the EU into turkey. Apologies if this problem has been discused before and already on this forum.

You can get green card insurance (trafik sigortasi) at the border and is very cheap. You can only get it for 6 months though as that is as long as the car is allowed to stay in the country. After that you MUST take it back and it must stay out for a further 6 months before bringing it back in again.
Full cover insurance can be arranged at any insurance place in Turkey. main ones are AXA OYAK and KOC ALLIANZE.

Did your friend manage to bring his car?  Is he taking it back within six months or is he planning on keeping it here?

We brought our car over and as Starman says you get the compulsary ins at the border. Costs about 73 ytl. After 6 months it must leave the country or be handed into customs.
There are different rules for UK State retired folks.

I used Saga car insurance and breakdown last year when I drove out for six months in Turkey.
I believe Tesco may insure you also.

probabbly taking it out he hasnt come back here yet . probably in the new year.
