Beware DOGUS mobile phone shops - Fethiye
« on: April 16, 2008, 13:18:53 PM »
This to make people aware of what has happened to a friend of mine. A friend of mine bought a mobile phone from the UK, and brought into Turkey, didnt check it in the UK and when opened the box here was faulty, she took the phone to a Turkcell mobile phone shop they looked at it for about a week and said they had to send away, would take about 2 weeks finally after 5 weeks arrived back, and still not working, when she wanted to collect the phone they asked her for her receipt from when she purchased it in the UK, but my friend didnt have it, so they said they would not release the phone without a receipt. How can this happen, who the hell do they think there are, think there is something going on here. The shop in question is the Turkcell shop Dougus on the back road on the one way system.

sounds like they have misplaced it and are playing for time, call their bluff and tell them they have 3 days to release your phone or you will report them to the police with theft of your phone

Hi,
assuming you have a reciept from the shop they have a duty of care to release your goods - the reciept from the uk doesn't mean anything - your contract for repair remains with the shop you gave it to.
BUT if you have no reciept from the shop they 'could' deny all knowledge as such you have no legal standing; the law on this is the same/similar in turkey as the uk -call their bluff inform the shop if they are refusing to release/return your good you will tell the police and have the shop owner (not counter worker etc) arrested for theft, make sure you keep any reciepts or notes from the shop though

The Dogus Turkcell shop also has a branch opposite the main mosque in Fethiye. The staff there are extremely rude. I bought a phone there a while back. It worked for a couple of days then would not switch on. I took it back to the shop where the unhelful staff said 'we cant do anything with it'It must be sent to a branch in Antalya for repair. Unfortunately, it came back as unrepairable due to liquid in the phone. The phone was never outside and certainly had not been near any liquid. Result the loss of 600 YTL. The shop could not have cared less and said it was my fault. The manufacturer said they had to rely on what the shop said.So beware DOGUS. turkcell shops.
