Calis Carboots restart Sunday 28 September
« on: September 19, 2008, 21:03:39 PM »
The first Car Boot sale of the Calis Carnival Committee's new fundraising season takes place this Sunday, 28 September.
There is still time to book a stall at this popular event which will take place in the car park at the rear of Mado Ice Cream Parlour on Calis Seafront. The gates will open for sellers to set up from 8.00 am and will open to buyers at the earlier time of 9.00 am
The committee plan to hold regular monthly car boot sales at this venue on the last Sunday of each month leading up to next years Calis Carnival which takes place on Saturday May 23, 2009 and all money raised from stall fees and from the committee stall will go towards the carnival and carnival charities.  In the event of heavy rain on Sunday, the sale will take place the following Sunday, 5 October.
Car boot sales are not only a good opportunity for a clearout but a great place to pick up bargains and to meet up with friends. Entrance to buyers is free.   If anyone has unwanted items but does not want to have a stall, the Carnival Committee stall welcomes donated items.  Please contact 0536 3739520 or 0535 8554919.

Because of the popularity of previous car boot sales, sellers are advised to book in advance and the organisers have drawn up a set of rules to ensure that the sales run smoothly. These are:

Sellers can book stalls in advance at a cost of 10 lira a pitch (to be paid on the day of the sale) by ringing 0536 3739520 or 0535 8554919.
Sellers who do not book in advance but turn up on the day will be charged 15 lira a pitch, if space is available.
There will be no charge to stalls collecting for bona fide charities but these should still try to book in advance to ensure a space
A pitch constitutes two standard size tables. More than two tables will count as a double pitch and will be charged as such
The gates will open at 8.00 am for sellers. There will be no entrance before this time and stewards will direct you to a pitch
Tables and chairs can be hired, if required, at a cost of 2 lira a table and 1 lira a chair
The committee regret that the sales will not be not be open to commercial traders.
