Calis Car Boots are here again!! - dates

Following confirmation from Fethiye Belediye today, we can confirm that permission has been granted for the Calis Carnival Committee to hold car boot sales in Calis over the next 8 months.

The first sale of the season will be on Sunday 27 September in the car park behind Mado Ice Cream Parlour, Calis Seafront (next to the Lighthouse Restaurant and Bahar Hotel).

Stalls will cost 10 lira (a stall constitutes 2 tables width). Bonefide charities will not have to pay for their stall as we wish to support these charites as well.  You can bring your own tables or hire them from us as 2TL a table and 1TL for a chair. All stall fees will go towards Calis Carnival and Carnival charities.

We are unable to take advance bookings and reserve spaces as this has proved to be unmanageable in the past. Stalls will be on a first come first set up basis and stallholders should try to be there by 8.00 am.  As it is still warm and sunny we would suggest that stallholders bring some form of sunshade as we are unable to provide this.  As it is still the holiday season we are unable to use the promenade for this month, however, we do have use of the side road between the car park and the Lighthouse Restaurant for additional stalls and this area will be used for those without cars.

We have been specifically told by the Zabita that new goods stalls/trade stalls and hot food stalls will not be permitted. Craft stalls/hand made goods and second hand goods are fine.  

IMPORTANT NOTICE - FUTURE DATES

As from October, at the request of Fethiye Belediye/Zabita,  the Car Boot Sales will be held on the penultimate Sunday of every month.

The dates of these sales will be:

Sunday October 18

Sunday November 22

Sunday December 20

2010 dates

Sunday January 24

Sunday February 21

Sunday March 21

Sunday April 18

nb. dates could be subject to change depending on weather and other circumstances but notice will be given on this forum, Calis Carnival website, Fethiye Times website and in the local press.

Dont forget that the Calis Car Boot Sales start again this Sunday. As we are unable to take stall bookings in advance please can stall holders be there for 8.00 am.  We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday

If anyone has any unwanted items that they would like to donate to the Carnival committee stall please e-mail me or Mercury and we can arrange for colletion if necessary.  All money raised from the committee stall goes directly to helping disadvantaged children in the Calis/Fethiye area.

Great to have the Car Boot Sales back again.  I was however disapproving of a stand very near to the comittee selling unpackaged food items whilst petting a dog on a lead at the rear of their table:(

We had a great (hot) day at the car boot today. Thanks to everyone who donated good for the committe table. Some really excellent quality goods. A  very special thank you to a "senior" member of the forum and his wife who very kindly donated some quality gifts which we will be selling at the Xmas Fayre. Maybe Chrissie will want to mention them by name? Also 2 brilliant items for the charity auction next year. Thanks to eveyone who helped us out today. See u all in  October. Anne

We really did have a great day with over 70 stalls turning up - several of these selling for various charities. We even found one keen Turkish stallholder had kipped in his van overnight in the car park when we arrived there at 6.15 am!

The atmosphere was great and the Carnival Committee raised over 1200 lira to kickstart our 2010 fundraising year so thanks to everyone who supported the event and to those who helped on the day. I would also like to thank the people who dropped off items for the stall during the morning and in particular forum members Rimms (and Mrs Rimms) Kevin3 and Toky who generously donated some great items for future raffles/auctions and the Christmas Fair as well as items for the schools  .

It all made the 5.00 alarm call and the hard work worthwhile :D:D

Oh such a shame that they are now on the penultimate Sunday of each month as we will be in Calis 5th - 12th October - a week early.
