Update on Christmas Fair
« on: December 01, 2009, 19:50:58 PM »
Well over 100 stalls are booked for the 3rd Calis Carnival Christmas Fair and Craft Market on Sunday and, come rain or shine, it should be a great day out.

For the first time ever, the fair will stretch along the promenade from Serkul 1 restaurant to Chinese Breeze and there will also be a couple of stalls further down the promenade at Keyif cafe. All of the stalls are being located under the restaurant awnings or under temporary cover so that in the event of any rain, everyone should remain reasonably dry.

Stalls will be selling all kinds of festive fare, crafts, gifts, jewellery, cards and decorations and there will also be mulled wine, mince pies and roast chestnuts as well as raffles and tombola. Calis Carnival, Embrace, Animal Aid and Mavi Kus will be running various stalls to raise money for local charities and I hope that you will give these your support.

All of the bars and restaurants are being festively decorated with balloons by Calis Carnival sponsors Pera Organisation who are also "building" Father Christmas's "balloon grotto" in the winter wonderland outside the Nicholas homes office, located between the Bus Stop and Nil Bars.  There will also be entertainment at this location during the day.

At 12.15 newly formed Calis choir, the Sunset Singers, will be inviting people to join them in singing popular Christmas songs.  They will then give a repeat performance at 3.00 pm.

There will also be a clown and international "balloon shaper" who is coming all the way from Germany to entertain the children.

At about 1.00 pm Father Christmas will be arriving in his "sleighmobile" along with his helper "Alf the Elf" and Carnival mascot Tommy Turtle.  They will then be saying hello to the children before Father Christmas takes up residence in his grotto for the afternoon where children can meet him and receive a present (for a small charge).

The fair is due to finish at 5.00 pm but I am sure there will be some more festive spirit going on in the bars throughout the evening
:D

The choir will not be singing Christmas Carols  but a selection of Christmas songs .There is a brilliant  traditional carol service in the Ernur Hotel Calis on saturday at 6.30 pm. Wouldnt miss it as it is so enjoyable but try to get there early as it was packed last year.

The Calis Christmas Fair is now full and we regret that we are unable to take any more bookings from stallholders.

Can those that have booked stalls please arrive on Sunday morning between 9.00 am and 10.00 am to set up.  We will be ringing you on Friday/Saturday to advise what restaurant you will be located in and your table number.  Please can you park up behind the said restaurant to unload. You will then be required to move your car to the nearby car park to avoid congestion on the road at the rear of the restaurants.  There will be stewards directing the cars on this road for those who do not know the location of the various restaurants or the car park. There will also be stewards in the various bars.  Please note that cars are not allowed on the promenade.

Please can you help us in this matter to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Finally,  in the event of any rain,  we have arranged for all stalls to be located either under the restaurant awnings or under temporary cover, but to be on the safe side, we do still suggest that stallholders  bring some clear plastic sheeting to protect their goods.

We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday and hope that you all have a very good day.

If there are any queries please e-mail me or ring 0536 3739520 or 0535 8554919. Thank you  :)
