Watch Out Burglars About!
« on: December 28, 2009, 15:08:57 PM »
Just a word of warning....Burglars are active in Uzumlu yet again! Friends of ours had their bungalow broken into yesterday between the hours of 5pm and 10pm whilst out visiting. A number of items were taken including plasma TV and jewellery. The burglars must have been there for some time as drawers and cupboards had been emptied. Jandarma have been informed and finger prints etc taken.

The bungalow is on the flat following the road round left passed the football stadium. They had security bars on all windows but unfortunately not the doors, one of which was forced.

Strange that there also seems a trend for these to occur on a Sunday.

No its not a trend that seems to occure on a sunday. My friends were burgled on wednesday afternoon & another couple that we know that only live 5mins from the the first burgalry were done in the early evening the same day. instead of moaning on about what security people have & where in the village it has happened why dont we try to get together & sort this out so it doesnt keep on happening. Or are you all to busy with your socalising...

our friends have thought one Idear was for us as brits to form a neighbourhood watch type scheme. There are a few x policemen in the village who will have first hand experiance of how to set this up. My husband is an x policeman & one of our friends burgaled is also an x policeman. Im sure there should be enough people living here full time that could spare a few hours a week to patrole there area. something needs to be done.

Clairelynne why don't you organise something then post it on here and see what the response is.

I think your dig about "you're all too busy socialising" is not needed. There are not events on every night of the week and the ones that are held on a regular basis fund raise for the dogs home and Uzumlu childrens projects and apart from that not all of us want to live like hermits we enjoy going out and meeting others.

At the end of the day, everyone is responsible for their own security and asking the question , have I done everything possible to protect my home and possesions?

Every sympathy for those affected by the scum who do this and we report anyone suspicious we see hanging around and so should everyone else.

I have had a conversation with Eddie today about this and asked him to get the villagers more involved and suspicious. If we all cancel quiz nights, stop going out etc it will be them who will loose by way of places closing and jobs being lost plus donations towards equipment that the village children need being stopped.

I wish you luck and wait to hear your ideas re Neighbour hood watch and support you to that end.
