anyone know a craft / bead shop in Fethiye?
« on: February 26, 2010, 13:07:23 PM »
Hi, does anyone know where I can find waxed cotton and beads (or even better, crystals with holes in) for making bracelets, necklaces etc?

I know exactly the right shop in Antalya, but its a bit fat to travel ;-)

Thanks for your help

Theres one in the Centrum in Fethiye, if you cross the main road in front of the mosque and go down the main drag to the harbour, take the 2nd turning on the left(me thinks) its next to Sahin the photographers.

If you walk up from where the Dolmus drops you off in Fethiye and turn right on the top road there is one there just down on the right.

If you walk past Sultan patisserie heading towards Calis there is one there set back in a little entrance on the left.

Hope this helps

Mrs KKOB, always goes to the one by Sultan Patisserie.

She reckons that Sweetie's, the one on the back road, is very expensive and doesn't have half as much stock.

Wow, thanks for the quick response!

I'll be in Fethiye on Wednesday so I'll have a nosey round.

Thanks again!

EDIT - just had a look to see where sultan patisserie is located and can't find it.  I'm fairly new round here, so if anyone can give an idiots guide how to get there I'd be really grateful.

I know: Migros in Fethiye, the Tuesday Market, The cultural centre, the Harbour, and the main Dolmus station in Fethiye near the cafe (that isn't there at the moment, presumably because it is winter).  I'm happy to walk, or to get a dolmus if that's easier.

Thanks again

Agree with KKOB, the 1 on the one way system is alot more expensive. The couple who run the 1 near Sultans are really helpful and nothing is too much trouble.
Not sure which direction you are coming from SmilingEyes but when approaching Fethiye coming from Calis, take the road in which runs by the side of the water. Just before you reach the traffic lights with the large mosque opposite you, Sultans is on the righthand side, on a corner. If you go around the corner, the bead shop is not far along on your left.

This one is the "Boncukcu Bead Shop" & is run by Isil, my Turkish teacher.

We have bought bits & pieces here & found it to be very reasonable & the staff very helpful & friendly.

I can't comment on any other bead shops as I have not used them.

Hi crinklies and albaman, thanks for the replies.

I'm staying in a village near esen, and come into Fethiye by Dolmus.  I usually get off by migros and walk from there, but I can stay on as far as the dolmus stations by the cafe on the corner (which isn't there right now).  I don't know calis at all, but presumably if I walk along the harbour from the corner towards calis, I'll come to the sultan's?

I'll check out boncukcu as well, thanks (still very much finding my way around!)
