Twelve international and Turkish acts are joining headlining UK rock band Toxic Federation in the line up for this years Calis Carnival free Concert.

The "Party in the Park" style concert which takes place on Sunday 30 May, and finales the busy Carnival week, promises to deliver an exciting fusion of eclectic music and dance, to appeal to all ages and tastes, reflecting this year's carnival theme "One World".

The concert which takes place in the car park next to the Lighthouse Restaurant runs from 2.00pm in the afternoon to 10.30 at night and there will be a free printed programme giving approximate timings of the acts to make sure that people do not miss their favourites.

As announced last week,  Toxic Federation who are flying in especially to headline the concert, are a young Derby based rock band that are emerging as one of the most exciting musical forces in  the midlands where they have amassed huge support and they also have growing support across the whole of the UK. They have been compared to many world class bands spanning back to the 70's and the birth of hard rock, but they are increasingly developing a style all of their own. The band has toured with Saxon, The Levellers and UFO amongst others and in June will be supporting the Stranglers.

Joining Toxic Federation will be last year's favourite "Pavarotti" otherwise known as British tenor Tony St. John. Not only is Tony a Pavarotti look-a-like, he is also one of the best Pavarotti sound-a-likes around today. Complete with the voice, the looks and the extra padding, he has been performing his tribute to the great Pavarotti for 12 years. His sensational performances have taken him all over the world and he has starred in many leading roles in musicals and opera and in 1985 performed with Placido Domingo in a Covent Garden production of Tosca. He has also sung to capacity crowds on match days at Wembley Stadium and The Stadium of Light as well as on adverts advertising Italian products.

Also flying in especially to take part in the concert and carnival are Côr Merched Cantabile Welsh Ladies Choir. Led by Linda Griffith the choir from Anglesey in North Wales was formed in 1989. and their wide-ranging repertoire comprises both serious and light-hearted music in many languages, including, of course, Welsh.

Dance enthusiasts are in for a real treat as Carnival favourites, Fethiye's own Performance Dance, will be opening the show with a stunning sensuous performance of Turkish and middle-eastern dance. Later in the programme Gypsy Passion, finalists in the "Turkey's Got Talent Competition" 2010 and winners of many prestigious awards including Salsa champions of Turkey for the last 5 years take to the stage. Ilker and his partner have performed in many major dance shows all over this area and they are now opening The Mask Showbar in Hisaronu.

Famous local Turkish saz musician Ahmet Eraslay will be wowing the crowds with his musical skills and guitarist and singer Özkan, is returning with his own exciting fusion of contemporary English and Turkish music.  This year he will be joined by friend Murat, a percussionist from Istanbul who plays the thumba, bongos and cajon.

Popular local band Shadow & Co. will be providing a mix of ethnic and modern music and there will also be well known rock classics from talented English duo Living the Dream and the youngsters from the Sanart Music School Rock band.

Their will also be a few familiar faces in the line up.

Talented local singer Paul Wynter (former Midlands Entertainer of the Year) will be treating the crowds to a performance of popular smooth classics. Paul (better known as Ian from Kismet Bar in Fethiye) is a firm favourite with the local residents and holidaymakers alike.

Muhammet Pallavus, owner of the Popular Four Seasons Restaurant in Ovacik, will be playing Traditional Turkish Baglama with a modern twist. He has been singing and playing since he was 6 years old which shows in the quality of his music. He may also be joined by musician friends.

There will also be a great performance from "Michael Jackson" aka Seckin Turker.  Seckin who is a life long fan of Michael Jackson and his music has been performing his tribute to the late superstar for nearly 20 years all over Turkey. He now has Jackson's Cafe Bar in Hisaronu where he performs 3 or four nights a week

The concert will be compered by "Vergul & Noktor" better known as Nigel and Nese.

Concert programmes are now available and the timings for each act will be on them. There are programmes in next weeks in the Land of Lights but most of the bars will have them.  Times are approx. but we are hoping to stick roughly to time!! If anyone can't get hold of one we will put the schedule on here.

This year there will be pyrotechnics, ( without the ash) and great lighting effects in the evening.  A huge generator is coming from Marmaris. This is to offset any power cuts as we had last year. The electric supply is not great as some of you may know. There will be stalls around the perimitter and wthere will be 1.000 seats. However we are asking everyone to please not take a seat that can be used for people who need them. e.g  disabled people. Stage area's will be cordoned off for safety reasons but there will be ample room left for dancing. As it is mostly a daytime event and we are expecting it to be hot, we have free hats available on the day. (cardboard, not carnival hats). Any queries please e.mail either me or Nigel at The Kizmet Bar. Thank you. Anne

The free cardboard baseball hats (which could become collectors items :D) have kindly been sponsored by Manzara Construction through ytokgoz of this forum.  They will be available to keep the sun off both on carnival day and concert Sunday.
