Twelve international and Turkish acts are joining headlining UK rock band Toxic Federation in the line up for this years Calis Carnival free Concert.
The "Party in the Park" style concert which takes place on
Sunday 30 May, and finales the busy Carnival week, promises to deliver an exciting fusion of eclectic music and dance, to appeal to all ages and tastes, reflecting this year's carnival theme "One World".
The concert which takes place in the car park next to the Lighthouse Restaurant runs from
2.00pm in the afternoon to 10.30 at night and there will be a free printed programme giving approximate timings of the acts to make sure that people do not miss their favourites.
As announced last week,
Toxic Federation who are flying in especially to headline the concert, are a young Derby based rock band that are emerging as one of the most exciting musical forces in the midlands where they have amassed huge support and they also have growing support across the whole of the UK. They have been compared to many world class bands spanning back to the 70's and the birth of hard rock, but they are increasingly developing a style all of their own. The band has toured with Saxon, The Levellers and UFO amongst others and in June will be supporting the Stranglers.
Joining Toxic Federation will be last year's favourite
"Pavarotti" otherwise known as British tenor Tony St. John. Not only is Tony a Pavarotti look-a-like, he is also one of the best Pavarotti sound-a-likes around today. Complete with the voice, the looks and the extra padding, he has been performing his tribute to the great Pavarotti for 12 years. His sensational performances have taken him all over the world and he has starred in many leading roles in musicals and opera and in 1985 performed with Placido Domingo in a Covent Garden production of Tosca. He has also sung to capacity crowds on match days at Wembley Stadium and The Stadium of Light as well as on adverts advertising Italian products.
Also flying in especially to take part in the concert and carnival are
Côr Merched Cantabile Welsh Ladies Choir. Led by Linda Griffith the choir from Anglesey in North Wales was formed in 1989. and their wide-ranging repertoire comprises both serious and light-hearted music in many languages, including, of course, Welsh.
Dance enthusiasts are in for a real treat as Carnival favourites, Fethiye's own
Performance Dance, will be opening the show with a stunning sensuous performance of Turkish and middle-eastern dance. Later in the programme
Gypsy Passion, finalists in the "Turkey's Got Talent Competition" 2010 and winners of many prestigious awards including Salsa champions of Turkey for the last 5 years take to the stage. Ilker and his partner have performed in many major dance shows all over this area and they are now opening The Mask Showbar in Hisaronu.

Ahmet Eraslay will be wowing the crowds with his musical skills and guitarist and singer
Özkan, is returning with his own exciting fusion of contemporary English and Turkish music. This year he will be joined by friend Murat, a percussionist from Istanbul who plays the thumba, bongos and cajon.
Popular local band
Shadow & Co. will be providing a mix of ethnic and modern music and there will also be well known rock classics from talented English duo
Living the Dream and the youngsters from the
Sanart Music School Rock band.
Their will also be a few familiar faces in the line up.
Talented local singer
Paul Wynter (former Midlands Entertainer of the Year) will be treating the crowds to a performance of popular smooth classics. Paul (better known as Ian from Kismet Bar in Fethiye) is a firm favourite with the local residents and holidaymakers alike.
Muhammet Pallavus, owner of the Popular Four Seasons Restaurant in Ovacik, will be playing Traditional Turkish Baglama with a modern twist. He has been singing and playing since he was 6 years old which shows in the quality of his music. He may also be joined by musician friends.
There will also be a great performance from
"Michael Jackson" aka Seckin Turker. Seckin who is a life long fan of Michael Jackson and his music has been performing his tribute to the late superstar for nearly 20 years all over Turkey. He now has Jackson's Cafe Bar in Hisaronu where he performs 3 or four nights a week
The concert will be compered by
"Vergul & Noktor" better known as Nigel and Nese.
