Beware Tarmac!!!

Just back from Fethiye and had to drive through a tarmac 'lake' at the bottom of the Uzumlu hill. It's where they are doing the roadworks & making a roundabout.
Even though I drove very slowly, the car is in a right mess :((

Thanks for the info, and so sorry about the car. We had ours washed at a garage in Catalarik and they removed some old tarmac from it last week, (unsure when it got there hubby thought it must have been when I drove!!!!).
It has been a bit of a nightmare (has seemed a free for all at times)but they have made some amazing progress. Let's hope it will soon be completed.  : )) C

Too late !! we found it on our way back from Fethiye, Daren't look at the car! Hopefully Pete is a careful driver and so the damage may be minimal.

WD40 is good and will get rid of the tar but it should be used carefully as it is flammable and corrosive.

The couple of times that it happened to me in Turkey I used a rag soaked in deisel and it worked. I made sure that I gave the car a good wash.

A regular wash and wax also helps. The wax prevents the tar getting on the paint and it makes it easier to remove the tarmac.

Calvin - it may not be so visible on your car but it's still there though :(

Nichola - Tony has done a really good job getting most of the tarmac off with wd40, thank you.

Ovacikpeedoff - thanks for the suggestions.

Diesel is far cheaper than WD40 for removing tar. Just tip some on a cloth and rub it over the tar. It'll soon dissolve and come off.
