The Donkeys other Ball
« on: June 16, 2012, 14:37:47 PM »
We are going to organise a fundraising party for the donkeys very shortly, they are safe and well now but will need a tremendous effort and expense to Sandy and John, the boys both need Gelding now if they are to be able to run free in the field with the others and that is what we shall be raising the Harold Melvins for.

I am pretty sure it will be at Bostans but I havent told them yet ;D and in the very near future so watch this space  ;)

My thoughts too. Turkey isn't exactly over run with donkeys. Why spoil their fun.Is there a medical reason this need doing.

Of the 3 we took up there one is female and the males keep trying to mount her. Shes only a baby and if the boys aren't gelded ( not sure if this is the correct word?) then she will have to spend her life separated rather than running around with the others
Unfortunately one of these males mounted the other Kargi baby and killed it a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately demand for donkeys nowadays is limited and hence they end up tethered in cramped dirty conditions which is what the original concerns were that led to the rescue.

Hope this makes sense and clears up any confusion.

It's going to be expensive but essential, we will be arranging a fundraiser to cover the costs involved and hope we will get everyone's support.
