I bash mine with a wooden meat tenderizing hammer and the cloves just pop out of the skins making it much quicker than peeling them.
I often crush a whole heap of cloves and put them in a little water with a smidgen of salt in a jam jar and keep them in the fridge which saves preparation time when cooking.
You can also use olive oil instead of water as some one suggested on another topic.
