Insurance/cancelling flights
« on: May 01, 2013, 08:44:15 AM »
Hi - I don't know if this is in the correct section or not, apologies if not.  I have to cancel easyjet flights to London due to health reasons.  easyjet say I won't get a refund but can re-book later flights however several people have now told me that because I used my Mastercard credit card I am insured and should be able to get the money back.  I rang Mastercard but the girl didn't have a clue so she gave a telephone number for their insurance department.  I rang them and the response I got was "We don't speak English" and got promptly cut off!  I don't really want to waste too much time ringing around so Iwas just wondering if anyone could confirm if I can actually claim back the money from my credit card?  I'm not very hopeful :P  Many thanks.

Thanks for that Toky.  I'll probably not get anywhere since the card was issued by a Turkish bank but I can only try  ;)

It's a global card so the terms and conditions should be the same. Good luck

If you can't get a refund then try selling them, at least you could get some of your money back.

I've tried selling them cheap and tried giving them away but because of the charges to change the names, also having to pay the difference in flight prices now as compared to when I bought them, nobody is interested.  Ho hum...

Just had an email from easyjet offering me a refund on the cancelled flights.  I just have to send them a copy of my doctors report.  I am amazed and, needless to say delighted, as I didn't even ask for or expect this!   Well done easyjet  ;)
