Help needed on POA etc. for selling property.
« on: September 11, 2013, 12:53:20 PM »
Hi all. Need some help here please.
We have finally had an offer (not a good one) on our properties in Calis. However due to Carl's and my health problems we've really no option but to sell - it'll ease up on a LOT of other problems.

There is just no way we can get over there & I can't leave Carl alone. He's had a number of 'heart bumps' over the last few days & that was before we had the added extra stress of a possible/probable sale.

Our neighbour who also is selling at same time has offered to be POA for us.

She tells us we need an Apostille Power of Attorney - has anyone done this from UK - we were also wondering if we could do this via Koray maybe over phone/computer.

Anyone done this & can tell us the easiest less stressful way?

Being sold to a Turkish developer.
Linda

It's not as daunting as you think Linda (good news about the sale btw)

1.You need a PoA in English which the local notary office, in Fethiye, will definitely accept (I'll send you the very thing as a template, you can change the names/references).

2. Speak to your proposed attorney - Koray I assume, to get his full name etc.

3. Then you need to get it notarised and apostilled and for this you need to find out who your local Notary Public is - there will be a local one to you. Any firm of solicitors near you will know and will give you the contact details free (no honestly!). You need him to transform the completed PoA onto nice paper (    ;) ) and send it to the UK Foreign Office for stamping and legitimising.

4. They send that back stamped, to the notary public, and he sends it on to you.

5. When you get it, you need to get it to a sworn translator in Fethiye because it needs to be fully translated into Turkish - the English stamped version is not sufficient alone. Koray can indeed do this for you, and you don't need to be there.

6.  Job done.

Best wishes to Carl and yourself from all of us -    :)

Thanks Keith. Susan was under the impression that we could do all of this online. I wondered as Koray knew us if it'd be possible for him to fax us a form & Carl sign it while on webcam, then give it to Susan to take over.

I'll get onto it when Carl is sleeping. He's stressed enough at moment.

Doing it online is impossible.

I replied to reduce Carl's stress - once you decide to sell, the stress should all start to fall away  :)

Thanks Keith
Could you send us the form please!
It's NOT just this that is stressing him - wish it was!
I needed to find out easiest & safest way to do this!
Worried that he's not well enough to go visiting notaries etc. Just checked and there are some in Cardiff and Chepstow so will decide which is the best for access.
You're a treasure
Thanks
Linda
