Two local ladies will be pounding the streets of Antalya on Sunday to raise money for the 3C's charity.
The two energetic ladies, who are both of a certain age, are taking part in “Runtalya”, the 9th International ÖGER Antalya Half Marathon. The race route which starts from the centre of the city, follows the beautiful Antalya coastline to Lara Beach and the half marathon section of the marathon route, which is being run the same day, covers a distance of 21.0975 kms.
For 3C's supporter, Patricia Meldrum who lives in Yesil Uzumlu it is her first attempt at a half marathon. Although she has a few 10 kms runs under her belt, including last year’s 10 km Antalya race which is ran over part of the same course, this years race is double the distance and will be really stretching her.
Her friend and running partner German born Renate Koker who lives in Fethiye is a keen runner, but just for fun and fitness, and has never raced in Turkey.
The two lovely ladies who will be wearing their 3C's running vests in the race, have been training for the past 17 weeks. Their programme involved running four days a week and cross training (cycling and power walking) one day a week and two days rest.
As well as raising money for the 3C's here in Turkey, Pat has also set up a separate sponsorship site for McMillan Nurses/Hospices amongst her UK friends and family, another charity that is close to her heart.
