Have been told our account at HSBC in Fethiye is now up and running - delay caused by UK inefficiencies and not Turkish, I should point out - and we can go collect our ATM cards etc from the branch when we are there the week after next.
(They were going to post them to the UK, apparently, but given that it's only a month until we move for good, I wouldn't trust them to arrive in time!)
Anyway - I've never actually been inside the branch. Can anyone tell me if there's a specific place we should go inside for such things or to speak to someone in English etc?
TIA. :)

The Premier team can be found on the first floor, both speak English Walk in main door and carry on through the banking hall to stairs at back wall on the right.
-
ah so the hsbc fethiye account is linked to the uk...i prefer my money to stay invisible to the uk. But hsbc is great for withdrawing sterling...no charges whatsoever then off to my bank to do the exchange.
-
Brilliant, thanks.
I can walk in and look like I know what I'm doing now.
First time for everything! ;D
-
HMRC is now happy to know that Mr M.D.Burns is tucking away his monies from those who might be interested.

unless it has been changed I was told by HSBC both in Turkey and UK it is not possible for them to access info from the other. Turkey is still not signed up for Global viewing so I am still unable to look at both accounts via my UK one or vice versa.
-
The uk and turkish accounts are completely different. It may be that the HSBC in Fethiye have set up a sterling account and a lira account both held in Turkey.
You can then transfer to either account from the uk.
-
HSBC UK and HSBC Turkey are entirely separate entities. HSBC Turkey is a franchise of HSBC Holdings plc.

For your info scorcher and anyone else who thinks what i am doing is tax avoidance.
I brought over roughly £ xxxx through customs which is totally legal.
Hmrc are aware that i own property.
If one pays tax on their savings in the uk then brings there money out of the uk to invest in turkey where one pays tax where is the problem.
I am not hiding money, i am not a drug lord or arms dealer, a starbucks franchise owner ect.
I am simply not giving hmrc the satisfaction of being able to follow what i do because legaly they have no right.
But ! It seems that you "SCORCHER " who is faceless , nameless and hides behind an avatar is a representative of H.M.R.C (her majesty"s revenue and customs)
So, people, beware that there are british government operatives on this forum who see fit to watch your every word.
I have invited scorcher to meet me face to face but he has yet to reply....
I am now going to report you to a moderator for these reasons as stated in the forum rules .
" Members who post antagonistic or sensationalist posts purely for the sake of promoting bad feeling or reaction will suffer a similar fate."
I repeat " SCORCHER " If you would like to discuss this matter face to face with me then you will find me at vals bar.
My name is Michael Delamere Burns
Have a nice day !
-
Well there is an over reaction if ever I saw one to a post that I interpreted as tongue in cheek humour.
And I will thank you Michael Delamere Burns - also hiding behind an avatar - not to send me personal messages - if you have something to say to me say it in public.
The only sad person here is you! If you don't want people commenting about you, best not to share on a public forum.
Good luck reporting that to the moderators!
-
Believe it or not there will be HRMC people trawling websites and forums looking out for tax dodgers.
I received a report from The Gimp Master but didn't think Scorcher had done anything wrong. In fact I just thought, like Nichola, it was a tongue in cheek remark designed to warn others about putting sensitive info on the forum.
As for sending personal messages. If anyone receives unwanted ones after asking a member not to send them. Or they are abusive in any way. Please report them and the appropriate action will be taken.
-
The message i sent to her was not abusive , i simply asked her why she liked scorchers post.
Anyway lets end the bad feelings now.
Have a nice day !
-
I never said it was abusive. I was generalising about receiving messages from members. No offence meant.
-
Anyway lets end the bad feelings now.
Hmmmm, bad feelings...
You were the one complaining accusing people of saying (non-aggressive) things you didn't like. It was also you who invited a member to come and meet you at Val's Bar - now, in my experience is that this translates to "here's where I am if you want a fight". Which is thuggish behaviour. You may argue differently but that is what I believe you meant and I don't care if you disagree.
Thus the only person exhibiting bad feelings in this entire topic was you.
But as you say, have a nice day.
-
How childish... you removed my like button because people were on my side, i was not being thugish i just wanted to discuss the matter face to face which is a civilised way of dealing with the matter...., anway i have had enough of your dictatorship of a forum and your gimps who wee in the same pot so kindly remove me.
Monkeys at the top of the tree controlling the monkeys at the bottom comes to mind.

You idiot. It is not possible to remove a like button. Nobody has a like button for their own posts. At least get your facts straight before trying to cause trouble here. A leopard can't change it's spots, I did say from the off you couldn't stop the mask from slipping.
Have a nice day don't forget.

Actually you are deluded - nobody agreed with you!!!
Michael Delamere Burns - Monkey in the roots of the tree. Bye then. Come in, spit the dummy, ask to be removed. Good work fella.

From first (intro) topic, day 1 in the life...
Interesting name and intro. We would be hoping for quite an increase in relevant content in future posts mind you. He'd certainly have to behave a lot better than the last time or we'll throw him out again.
You have to admit, we're good at this running a forum lark...
-
Well, he lasted 14 posts longer than I expected.
-
Well I had a dubious opinion about him when I first saw his CBF name! :(

Blimey. I only asked for directions.... :o
-
I don't know are you being just a little too hard on the man?
We don't get a troll to these pages very often, and we could have looked forward to many enjoyable hours 'tearing off his arm and beating him with the soggy end' (figuratively, not Val's bar speaking) and he cuts himself off after only 14 posts, and more particularly I didn't get a chance to get stuck in either .... it's not fair. Bring back the Gimp

sad to say but the weirdo's of the world really do brighten a dull day for me, very entertaining!!

And me. ;)

Sadly me too. I am absolutely fascinated by them on here. I don't seem to meet them in "real life" (well not since I moved back from Calis anyway).
What a troubled mind, gets removed at his own request after someone making a "nod and wink" one line comment about keeping your finances quiet on public forums - and processes that as "i have been banned from calis beach forum again for exposing someone as a british tax inspector.
Quite remarkable. Tragic, but remarkable.
-
Strange, we have a sad episode with one "Michael Delamere Burns" and soon after a Tripadvisor review of Calis Beach is not too complimentary.
"Worst Place Ever
I have a house in Fetyhie and have only ever been to Calis the once and never again.
Its not the Turkish people, they are great and the shops and restaurants are good but I can only say its the people who holiday there that makes it awful.
However if you like overweight beer swillers, male's who think its acceptable to walk through the streets half dressed with there shirts off and drunk, and females who think its acceptable to walk through the streets in a bikini then its the place for you.
One thing in its favour is the boat trips they are very well run "

When I saw the name M Burns I thought of:

-
I'm inclined to agree though.
I actually think the tour operators should be including some sort of dress code in their brochures, at hotel info desks, leaflets on the plane, whatever it takes.
And the restaurants shouldn't allow people to sit in there with bikini tops of shirts off.
I wouldn't want to sit in a seat after some half naked sweaty person. Some of the sights are cringeworthy and after all it is a mostly Muslim country.
There was a man actually naked a couple of weeks ago on the beach as we wacky walkers passed him he didn't even have the decency to put his legs together.
Ewwwww...
-
: :)
-
I fully agree with that too, but it doesn't make up my entire opinion of Calis. The restaurants should set the standards and keep to them. Sadly getting people in rates far higher than having sweaty half naked men dripping everywhere.
-
having sweaty half naked men dripping everywhere.
Sometimes, you have a way with words...
On the other hand though, I suspect there may be an alternative market that may enjoy that situation ;)

OMG I have only just read this thread and I must say it has given me a much needed laugh, seriously I am gobsmacked I too took the original post re income tax to be in jest and could not believe the "Gimp" Master's post...
-
Bring back the gimp.
He was funny
He gave everybody else the chance to be funny to.
-
I do think that too you know. We had the greatest pain in the neck in CBF history in the early days - a guy called Gary Carr who was full of ridiculous stories, a rumour creator (but a bad one, like when he wanted to start a panic reaction by pretending he was going to buy 2 semi detached villas at Telmessos complex to turn into a recording studio for "some of the greatest stars in music"...he was unique, an absolute nightmare - like a mosquito that appears when you need a rest.
In the end we banned him over something a little unsavoury - and we were poorer for that every day since :D
-
Bring back Gary Carr!
We could then have a canine section ;)

Be careful what you wish for.

Is the heat making people bad tempered ? I too saw it as tongue in cheek, a lighthearted comment, not meant to be taken seriously.
