Is it straight forward with Garanti bank to transfer sterling from an account with them to an account in a uk bank using internet banking.

I would suggest using Transferwise to do this to avoid high bank charges. Very safe and I always use them.

https://transferwise.com/
I use them to send money to Turkey haven’t tried it the other way. Good exchange rates and money usually arrives same day.

Yes. Amount depends on bank, or what fee you can negotiate with them.

Yes you sign up to transferwise, give them you bank account details in Turkey and tell them how much you want to transfer. You then pay them that amount using your debit card, I use Apple pay. There is a small fee involved. The rate of exchange is shown at the time. The money us usually in your Turkish bank account the same day, You have to give proof of Identity, by uploading a photo of your passport. If using a smartphone download the app, it's easy to use.
