Well as a couple who two years ago had no idea what we would do when we retired, in July we bought our beautiful little house in Calis.  We've been visiting our friends here for over 10 years and can't wait to move permanently.  So I would just smile at people who react like this, and drop the subject in the knowledge that you are heading for a great adventure.

My husband used to work in the overseas removal industry. You would be amazed how many people packed up all there belongings and shipped them to Australia only to turn the container round on arrival after a couple of months because they decided it was a mistake and not for them. Maybe it just shows that home is where the heart is. Or you can please some people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but never all of the people all of the time.
