Title: Italy to Turkey ferries
Post by: Eric on October 28, 2006, 11:42:24 AM
Has anyone done this trip? Can you take a pet dog on the ferry or do we have to take the overland route? Any experiences of getting a pet over by road/ferry would be appreciated as we are thinking of driving over to have the use of a car for the 1st 6 months.
Thanks

Hi,
Having just done the Turkey (Cesme) to Ancona, Italy trip on the Marmara Lines ferry, I can assure you that dogs were allowed on the ferry.  They had boxes like kennels for them and the owners were allowed to exercise thier dogs freely.  Cannot give you anymore details than that, sorry

Eric,
I have no actual personal knowledge of this, but I do know of a family who did "the right thing". They had all the paperwork/jabs etc, on leaving UK; at no time during their total journey did anyone bother, including the ferry. Nobody even "looked" at the 3 cats, despite being clearly visible. The real problem comes when/if you go back, you will need all the paperwork from UK & then into quarantine.
