Why not just download Skype again Lance? Assuming you have enough space left.

Once downloaded just put in your password and all your details will be there I think.

Or do a search for Skype on your c drive. You might have just deleted the icons. Click 'start' then 'search'. Type in Skype then find.

Hope you get it sorted.  :)

1. Delete some files that you are sure you don't need (movies etc)
2. Open the recycle bin and delete everything in it.
3. Turn off and restart your computer
4. Do a system restore
5. Keep your fingers crossed

Lance i think as steve redding said, you will have to do a system restore, when you go into that, it will ask you do you want to restore to a point when every thing was working ok, click a date you are happy with and enter, hope this works for you.

The opposite alternative to deleting things you don't think you need is to save/back up everything you know you do then do a fresh installation of Windows. We all accrue gigabytes of absolute rubbish over time.

That is Keith, if you still have the discs. I unfortunately, don't.

Lance. Go to "programs and features" in your control panel. That will show you a list of what you have on the disk.
If you see some of your movies just click on them and if it askes if your sure you want to delete. Hit yes.

They wouldn't free up much space if you removed them so I'd just keep them. There's a free disk analyser which can show you the big files/folders on your system, unfortunately I can't remember what it is called - leave it with me Lance.

Have you got any videos on there Lance - they take up lots of space. Why not buy an external hard drive to keep all your photos and films on? I use one and it leaves me with lots more space on my computer. I also back up most of my important pictures to places like FB so if I have a fatal blow up I can always retrieve them.

Also sign up for Dropbox - it's absolutely brilliant. You can set it up to automatically upload a copy of photos you add to you computer - and - wait for this - ***nerd alert*** set up your iphone/ipad so that every time you take a photo or video on it, it automatically copies it to your Dropbox account in the clouds (or if you are worried about data usage will do it the minute you are wifi connected, even if that is days later.

I used to permanently have around 1 Gb of photos and videos on my iPhone, now I keep them deleted and have the space instead   :)

And just for you Stoop it's free for 2GB   ;)

Got one Keith but I store my iphone pics on their cloud. They automatically get saved anyway but I do like the dropbox idea. Must check it out as I don't think I use it as much as I should.

It's the automatic saving I like (and the free part) because not many of us are that good at backing up our photos and videos. However, I use it more to free up space on my phone than for backing up reasons.

Lance - when you look at your folders and files (in my documents, my pictures, any of them) - on the left hand side you will see your drives - C: D: (dvd drive normally) and any memory cards you have plugged in.

1. Can you type out what ones you have and post them here

and

2. If you highlight your hard drive (c: ) then RIGHT click to get a menu pop up then down to the very bottom and select PROPERTIES - you will see one of these:

Can you tell me how much of yours is used, and how much is free...

Keith as follows.

Used space  103.552.954.368.bytes =96.4GB

Free space 1.199.783.963 bytes   =1.11 GB

CAP 104.752.738.304. Bytes     =97.5

last night i had a bit more free space but it gone less now ,even though i have deleted pictures and music.AGH.

Have got 135 GB  free on D Drive. yours shows number at the top mine says local disc C

So what is taking up your 96gb Lance? Have you checked to see what are the big programs or large files that are filling it up?

If you have a D drive (I take it someone has partitioned your hard drive into C & D) then why not move all your big files onto there? I keep all my photos on my D drive as it frees up the C drive for my programs and any small documents I need at hand.

If you move them don't do it by 'copy' or you will end up with them on both drives. Drag and drop is the best way.

It sounds like your hard drive is partitioned into two sections (C & D) as your description of D doesn't sound like it's a DVD or CD drive.

If you have anything you can move from C to D it will help - it will still be on your hard drive just the other section (D) which will free up the equivalent space on C which is pretty much full now.

Remember to right click the folders you want to move from C to D and select CUT - not COPY, then right click on D and select paste. Don't try to move things like Windows, it won't like that at all. Also check the folder "Program Files" - and if there is anything in there that you don't use anymore highlight and delete. Then empty recycle bin.

If you are not sure whether to delete something or not, don't delete it - find something else. As Stoop suggests, use D to store videos and photos on, you have a huge amount of free space on your hard drive in D.

Hope that makes sense.

With Dropbox you can manually copy anything to your safe back up cloud - 3 clicks is all you need.

Right click on any file (or whole folder)

Here are the next two clicks -

"Send to" - "Dropbox"

I've even done you a picture  ;)

It can have a name or a number Lance it won't matter.

If you save things like photos and new programs to D now (if it suggests installing to C:/new_programs or something just change it to D.

If you save all photos and videos onto D now you have plenty of space and C: should be ok with the free space it now has.

I'd also suggest you get to the computer clinic suggested, 5 minutes of attention from a computer whizzkid will be time well spent  :)

I use the program "Easeus Partition Master" to "re-partition" my drives.  As you seem to have much avail space on your D partition , with this program you can shift part of this free space to your C partition using this program :

http://download.cnet.com/Easeus-Partition-Master-Free-Edition/3000-2248_4-10863346.html

Please read carefully before using it.  You can "Undo"  ,  "Redo" and don't worry , nothing will happen if you don't click "Apply" .
