Title: Halkbank in a wee bit of bother
Post by: JohnF on March 29, 2017, 11:11:54 AM
A senior executive with the state owned Halkbank was arrested at JFK airport and is being implicated in the actions of Reza Zarrab, the Iranian chappie who allegedly helped Iran break US imposed sanctions.  Mr Zarrab also has (allegedly) close ties to the current government in Turkey and to the wee fella himself, all allegedly remember!

Halkbank shares fell by 16% and the lira also weakened against the USD when this was announced.

I wonder how long it'll be before there's a mysterious powercut at Incirlik again ?  ;)

I wonder if Trump will be getting one of RTE's little lectures on democracy, freedom and fascism?

Trump dismissed the prosecutor that was nailing Zarrab and Zarrab has hired two top briefs that are close to Trump.

I sense a Houdini moment coming on.

I was reading up on this case earlier.
Many people wanting Preet Bharara reinstated to complete the Reza case but unlikely I think.
