Hi again Sascha

Our first visit to Turkey was also to Kalkan - absolutely loved it. It is so pretty. Went without the kids for our Silver Wedding Anniversary for a week (two years ago). Loved Turkey so much we decided to bring the kids, but decided there wasn't really enough to occupy them in Kalkan, and it is also very hilly. [

!] Didn't think the kids would appreciate it!

Chose Calis as it had more to offer for families. You will love it and so will your kids. The waterpark is a great way of spending a few hours in the hot sunshine.

We are also flying out on 4th August and it will no doubt be extremely hot

(well, it was last year!). Have a great holiday - you will absolutely love Calis. Julie

Cheers Julie we totally agree that Kalkan is beautiful but we are ready for a change.Chose carefully and Calis was a unanimous decision.Whats the situation with mozzies as we heard that Calis has a fair few as the area is marshland.Also is the waterpark a good meeting point??We will also be on the lookout to hire a car for the 2nd week so any suggestions as to reputable car hire firms in Calis would be appreciated.Thanx in advance.

Hi Sascha and Kate,

The mozzies can be bad but only in certain places! We've just come back, and the only time I got bitten was at Dalaman airport on our return! Take all the necessary precautions (marmite, vitamin B, avon stuff etc - use the search facility on the top right hand of this page, to get all the information you'll need on mozzies.)

The waterpark is good for kids (of all ages, lol). Not sure about the hire car - we always use the local dolmus buses which are very cheap and reliable to use (and you can have a couple of beers without worrying!)
