Hi all me and my wife came to Calis beach for our holidays last year and loved it 8) and are now thinking of moving there permanently and have a many question's but here are a few to get us going. My wife has resportory problems and is classed has disabled what are the medical services like do you have to have private medical insurance? Also she get's some benefits in the uk would she still receive them in turkey from the DWP(I have been waiting for 2 month's for a letter from the DWP to comfirm this). Away form the touristy area's do you find turkey being a Muslim country a problem. I am a very keen motorcyclist and like to go touring around on my bike is their any restriction's of movement in turkey? Also I would like to import my bike into turkey is this possible and how easy/hard is it. I am sure that we will think of many more question's to ask at a later date.

Hi and a very warm welcome to the Forum. I think the only people who will give you an "accurate" answer to your specific benefit problem are the DWP themselves but a lot of the information is on line. Medical attention can be of a high standard but is not free and medical Insurance for a pre existing condition can be horrendously expensive.
There are no movement restrictions in general except possibly in the very far east where fighting on the borders of Iraq occurs.
You will only be allowed to import your bike for six months and will then have to take it out of the country....lot of info on this mainly about cars on the search facility. Try a period of renting first....also on the search facility :)

Hi pete,A lot of difficult questions which only proffesionals can answer I feel.My daughter is mildly asmatic and she is OK here, but generaly respiretary problems can  be a problem here. There is really no religous problems here,or at least not that one is openly aware of.This is Anatolia, people are welcoming, but I guess if you were to go too the far east of this country,it may be different.Forget bringing in a motorcycle from the UK.it is not impossible but very expensive, buy one here if you are very serious, there is a strong club locally for cruisers, mainly middle class doctors, solicitors etc,and the bike of choice is the BMW,G,or GS series. There is no restriction on movements if you follow the maps correctly, but if you stray into a restricted area beware!!!!!!!Finally, forget the english NHS system. If you want protection from cost of treatment you have to have a private policy. However I am told by good friends that the AKbank offers one of the best medical policies here and there is a specialist in the local bank in Fethiye.I hope this helps.J

Excellent info from you all many thank's I have been back onto the DWP they said all the info I need is on the web but it is gonig to be reviewed soon? your guess is as good as mine to what that means and she would not tell me only to keep a eye on the wedsite. Has for the bike it would break my heart to sell it but it may have to be. My bike is a BMW so that will not be problem. Once again thanks to you all
