The most important thing is to buy through a reputable Estate Agent, I like many otheres on this site  used www.interturkestaes.com  you can do a search on here they come highly recommended.
Do the same as you would in the Uk visit the area at different times of the day and night, if you are on a complex find out if there is a Management Committee set up and speak to a member if possible.

Hi after over 12 months research, we have taken the plunge and purchased via a great UK linked Company, Lycia Properties, check them out. We have purchased a 3 bed duplex in Ovacik. I am happy to offer any advice I can based on what I have picked up. If you e-mail, I will copy you the type of questions I have asked, which are considerable. I am going out in 2 weeks to sign on the dotted line!! If this forum is anything to go by, the postings on this superb forum indicates those who have purchased have never looked back. Happy hunting.

My advice would be get in writing from the person you are buying from their agreement to declare the true price of purchase when you/they apply for your Tapu (deeds) - and do this before you pay any deposit. It will save you a lot of anxiety.

hi thank you this as been very helpful, what do you think about getting a solicitor, we are under the impression that the estate agent deals with all the legal side of things.is this the case thanks once again brian and sue.

Brian and Sue - I used an independant solicitor and would advise the same. Some people will advise you it is not necessary but in my view it would be unwise not to use one. However I am a cautious person and I had to work very hard to fund my dream!
