Welcome to the forum.
We bought near Telmessos at Cicek as it to is very quiet and a pretty site. You will just have to visit some locations to find what suits you, when you start your search.
As for taxis and shopping, I don't think living away from the main part of Calis is a disadvantage as our main shopping is done in Fethiye anyway. We have several shops that cater for provisions nearby, but we love the peacefulness, especially as Calis is undergoing quite a bit of building expansion. Each to his own huh.
