Can you have two 180 day/90 day visas in a year?
« on: August 04, 2013, 19:25:14 PM »
The in-laws - bless 'em - would like to come out again this year, however we want to confirm on their ability to get a visa.  In particular can they purchase a second 180/90 day visa, when their current one runs out in early October (issued 12 April)?  They are due to arrive on 4th Nov.

Perhaps it is worth noting for completeness that they stayed for 40 days or so on their (current) visa from the 12th April and have not returned to Turkey since, nor do they intend to.

Thanks for any assistance

Yes, the important rule is not to exceed 90 days stay in 180 days. I have had 2 visas a year for several years running.

yes, only rule is no more than 90days over the 180 day period. once the 180days from the date they got the first visa sticker are up, they can get a new one  :)

Am I right in thinking that the visa I got on the 7th June this year for a two week stay will still be active for my next holiday on the 12th September for 18 days leaving on 30th. I just cant get my head round this new system even though it's been explained many times ( senile dementia I guess ) I just don't want to risk getting it wrong when I'm travelling alone.

Friends of us came to Turkey in May and came back last month. They didn't know about the new legislation and upon arrival they had bought a new visa, like they were used to in previous years. It wasn't noticed by the passport police so apparently they don't check whether you still have a valid visa or not.

@Makemwonder, yes, your visa will still be valid so you don't need to get a new one.

We had two 180 day visas running at the same time in April.  The police at Dalaman INSISTED we bought another visa, despite there being 8 days left on the previous one, and we were only going to be in Turkey for a week!  With our limited Turkish, and despite asking for someone more senior, we eventually gave up, and bought new visas, as we just wanted to get out of the airport.  :(

There wasn't a real problem as we were coming back in May and would have needed a new visa then anyway.  Unfortunately, we now have to buy another visa when we come out at the end of October as the enforced one we bought in April will have expired.  We had originally worked it out that when we bought one in May, it would have been valid for the October visit.  I know it's only £10 each, but it has messed up our visits at Easter and May Bank Holiday for next year.  :(

Thank you Dutchie, that's brilliant. I suppose my next task will be to try and find the right visa stamp for them to check lol.
