He is certainly up there with the greats. Redgrave, Farah, Hoy, McCoy, Charlton, Bannister - the list goes on.

Well done Murray!

Lorimer...Giles...Bremner...     ;)

Actually the best of that bunch was probably Madeley as he played in every position apart from keeper. Unsung hero I think.

But if I was to add a footballer other than Sir Bobby I would say John Charles. One of the all time greats.

The problem with footballers is that they played in a team and relied on others to at least some extent.

I believe Murray's claim is strengthened by the fact that he is competing against three of the greatest ever players.

I don't think too many will have Paul Madeley down as their best ever sportsman.  ;)

You could as I said earlier choose many sportsman in many different sports but its just your opinionand preference. Football has been mentioned. So could darts (if you consider it a sport) also snooker. The list goes on really.

Good grief - of course you could !!!!!!. That was the question.

I'll try again especially for you.

Question 1: Do you think that Andy Murray is Britain's greatest sportsman across all sports.

Question 2: If toyour answer to question 1 is No then who do consider is.
