A round up of HAYED'S first year
« on: April 13, 2019, 18:51:45 PM »
CELEBRATING THE WORK AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF HAYED’S 1ST YEAR AS A REGISTERED CHARITY

It’s been a steep learning curve, but thanks to the dedication of the volunteers, committee, vets and all HAYED supporters, here are some facts and figures that give an insight into the huge amount of success Hayed have achieved over the last year:
1. The inception of the FIRST EVER Animal Education Park in Turkey. In partnership with the Belediye, an education programme is currently underway, which will see approximately 5,000 local schoolchildren during this academic term being taught about animal rights, health, welfare and how to approach street animals. They are also being given lessons on the flora and fauna of Turkey, ensuring they receive well-rounded knowledge of their country, its natural habitat and its inhabitants. Plans are currently underway to roll out the education programme countrywide.
2. In partnership with Zabita, HAYED delivers monthly food supplies to pod and street feeders in 41 surrounding districts, reaching over 2,000 street animals, ensuring their survival.
3. We have established 70 L.A.R.S. (Local Area Representatives) who respond to emergency calls and welfare concerns. Our team of foster-carers also provide temporary homes for recovering animals.
4. A Hotline/Helpline has been established co-ordinated by a logistics team that deal with reported animals in distress. The number is 05317104141.
5. 3 Trap, Neuter and Return teams work in the area who operate alongside the shelter and private vets, providing a safe and effective way of keeping the animal population in check.
6. Last year, HAYED delivered the first education programme to people with dog phobias, and also hosted the first ever DOG FESTIVAL in Turkey, which promoted the benefits of animal companionship and care.
7. HAYED have been instrumental, through public petitions and demonstrations, in putting pressure on the Government demanding harsher penalties for the perpetrators of animal cruelty and abuse.
8. Our Nearly New Shop has gone from strength to strength and provides much needed income for animals in need.
9. In its first year, HAYED have treated a total of 1,085 animals – 366 dogs and 719 cats. These figures include Road Traffic Accident victims which were attended by Hayed volunteers and comprised of 50 dogs and 68 cats.
10. Expenditure for the year has totalled 225,000TL (approximately £30,000).
Without the invaluable contributions of volunteers and of supporters who regularly attend our many fundraisers, none of this would have been possible, so we would like to THANK YOU all for saving animals lives and look forward to an even more successful 2019-2020.
