buying a house normal costs

i would like to know the breakdown of costs for buying a house ie lawyer solicitor electric deeds etc as i was in one site and they quoted £ 15000 which i believe is a rip off

Did you mean £15000 or £1500?  £1500 is nearer the mark although as Lynne said, it does depend on the cost of the house.

Cost me the best part of £5k to move two years ago -- in the UK.

£1500 is not too bad depending on what it includes. Maybe £500 for a lawyer, then you have the deeds which are at least 1.5% of the property value. Connection of services, notory costs etc etc.

We paid £25k three years ago and I think all our costs came to around 2k. This included the cost of the estate agent too at 3%.

as stoop pointed out it all depends on what you buy,but the figures remain the same,ie
1.5% for the deeds then the estate agents fee,lawyer and notary costs.£1500 would be about right,£15000 should inclued the furniture and a live in house maid for the duration.

On a purchase price of about £67000 we are paying about £3000 for furnishings (3 bed apartment), £2000 to the estate agent, approx £2000 for property tax and £1000 for solicitor in UK.- these are late 2005 costs so fairly upto date. We could have spent more on furnishing or less on them as we wished. We think we opted for a mid range. On top of this we have a monthly maintenance charge currently £40. Hope this helps. Stuart

thanks for your comments it was a mis-understanding as it was used as an example ...dont matter i am now buying of plan in didim and will be finished june 07 and only in an apartment of 7 and private pool for us only
