Yet again the debate is should we change UK pound to Lira while the exchange rate looks good, we know its a million dollar question, we have already changed some into Lira and got an excahnge of 5.05 it now stands today at 5.09 , with three trips this year booked its an if and when , we normally chnage it when we arrive but are suspicious it will start to fall when the tourist season starts, what are peoples views on this .

In my opinion, you pays your money and takes your choice.
Simple as that.
On January 18 2017 the exchange rate was 4.65 - who on here (or elsewhere) could have predicted today's value.

So how would you both advise sunlover ? :)
-
I would advise sunlover to never buy lira for future visits to Turkey beyond their next one. And buy that as close to departing as possible.
Warning: Lira to pound exchange rates can go up, as well as up really fast.

For our sins.......
The present Mrs H buys some in the UK and the rest in Turkey.
I always change (legally or otherwise) in Turkey not before departing the UK.
-
Same ..if the rate appears good..I will buy some in the UK then take a chance on it being higher or lower when I get to Turkey.
-
Very sound advice. Thx all

Rate from Turkish ATM yesterday, using friendly plastic, would have been 5.225.
-
Rate from a Turkish bank this morning using friendly Sterling, was 5.21.

Ah, the notorious 5.2TEN!
