smelly canal
« on: August 31, 2018, 19:06:02 PM »
Has anyone else noticed the awful smell coming from the Canal, particularly behind the nil, summer breeze, bella mamas end. Its more like a sulpha smell in all the years I've been coming to Calis/Turkey I have never smelt anything like this before.

Yes it's pretty awful. The sulphur smell is in fact sh*t. Sewage.

I spoke to a chap yesterday who runs a business in Çalis, and many of the business owners have reported their concerns to the Muski and the Belediye.

Walking over the bridge today, the canal looked particularly black  :(

Lots of complaints from the locals on FB. It is definitely sewage probably from the high influx of visitors for Bayram. lovely for those in the hotels close by

It'll be fine, as it discharges directly into the bay. Happy swimming !  ;)

could be the pumping station  on the corner of the little road up to the Pelen hotel on the duel main  road , it overflowed in june when we had that monster storm and poured into the canal

Blueclad, that sounds about right where it starts to be honest, we drive along that road and it wofts into the car at that point.

When we arrived in calis on the 26 th Aug we were on a TUI coach that was full and we were the first drop off . We and another couple were dropped off at the Mutlu hotel and the mumbellings on the coach was “ was a sh_t tip “ and to be honest the bins on the back road was full , the camel stunk, and the resort looked dirty and tired .
I suppose if you have never been to the resort as we have for 15 years it doesn’t look good . Calis is a lovely place but I feel that beautiful quaintness is vastly slipping away .
