i am coming to turkey in 2 weeks,i am bringing an unlocked phone over,i already have a turkcell sim card which is still active over there,i am wondering will it work if i just put sim in phone or will i have to go to turkcell shop with my passport in fethiye to get phone registered ,if i do is it a while you wait service thanks peter

Hi Peter,
Your phone may work with your Turkish sim card for a while, often it will be switched off after 3-4 weeks. However if you go to the Turkcell Extra shop on Carsi Caddesi ( where HSBC bank is situated and on the same side of the road) with your passport, they will register your phone to your sim card. They told me that the phone would be active within the week, and in fact it was working in around 3 days. Very helpful and it didn't cost us anything. I have since heard that there could be a cost if your sim card came in a green packet originally. If it was an orange packet no charge! Cathy
