Title: Cafe Inn
Post by: anna-marie01 on March 11, 2012, 07:18:24 AM
Over the years we have had many a good meal in Cafe Inn, but recently I think their standards are beginning to drop :( Had fish and chips in there on Friday, the fish was tasteless and the batter was soggy! :-\ Cannot wait for Bostans to re-open to get decent fish with crispy batter.  :) Must try harder as they have lots more competition around them now.

Yes Mary I have been in the Zayra, I actually started a thread on here about the great value for money and excellent food. Esref and his wife are lovely people who always greet you with a smile and make you feel welcome.  8)

Normally Cafe Inn's food is quite good, shame to hear about their fish and chips.

Ate there twice, other than the lack of custard  :) during the 1st visit I thought it distinctly "average" & certainly not as good as the Zayra.

I'm not one for writing on restaurant reviews because I find that most of them are inconsistent, but to date, never had a bad meal in here,  :) watch this space , ;)

We were there with Anna Marie and family and I have to say the Fish and chips used to be good, now just average.
Also I did say at one time I would never go back after being told to F off because I parked my car outside the place.

It was fine last week and all of the previous weeks we have eaten there. Consistently good quality and portion size.

Yes apollo, but once you're told to F off, try and go in there in the same frame of mind.

If a bar or restaurant owner had told me to F off, I wouldn't go in again at all, ever.

One lesson I learned early on when living in Calis was to fall out with the people you fall out with but don't fall out with the people who fall out with people you know. The number of times I was asked why I was going to whatever bar "after the way they treated *****" - seriously, within 6 months you'd have nowhere to go :D

we have been the cafe inn 4 or 5 times and always had a great meal and service. i think the fella who runs the place is called billy.
one time the friends who took us had parked in front of the menu board outside and was asked politely to move their car a bit further up, which they did and there was no hassle about it.

I agree with you. Under similar circumstances I would feel the same.

I can only comment on my experiences.

You don't do that handbrake turn parallel parking like Baz though

Yes true, remember a problem with a certain bar for the CBF, meet ups. well, its still our local when in Calis, otherwise we would never see old mates.so good point there Keith.

Yes I remember that problem and that bar well Moe - I wonder how much that "misunderstanding" cost them over the season - bearing in mind we were looking for a location for 26 summer weeks of CBF weekly meet ups and they ripped us off on week 1! Anyway, it's right - I'll meet you in any bar that hasn't ripped me or you off - but if the bar ripped you off rather than me, I'd probably have no problem going there if I wasn't meeting you  ;)

Just returned from Calis.  Went to Cafe Inn as always on our first night and found the usual good reception from Bulent (Billie) and the boys.  The food and service very good. After some of the bad reviews I thought as it was six months since we were there, I thought we should go and try it out.

We have just returned from 2 weeks in Calis, and as always, we decided to go to Cafe Inn on our first night. And as always we had a fantastic meal. Billy and the boys are always very welcoming and were pleased to see us. There were 8 of us and everyone was very impressed with their food. We didn't have to wait long and the service was as good as ever. The family enjoyed it so much that we went back several more times during our stay. Highly recmmended!!!!
