Title: Acacia Trees Problem
Post by: Linda on July 10, 2010, 14:10:41 PM
We have a form of Acacia trees (three) in our garden that produce seedpods. This year two of the trees have produced far more seed pods than in previous years. The seedpods are coated in a sticky substance and are coated in tiny black flies. This has become a real problem as the patio, kosk and surrounding areas have been covered in the sticky substance and miniscule black flies that in turn attract ants!
Has anybody else experienced similar problems and/or can shed any light on why this has happened for the 1st time this year and to just two of the trees and not the other?

The little black flies are probably aphids.

Have a look at this site for info about how to get rid of them.
