Not new as books but newly available on Kindle: George Simenon's brilliant "Maigret" series. I am going to read them chronologically in order of their publication. On the second one now. I an share. Would be pleased if anyone can fill the gaps in the series.

Anything by Karen Rose and the Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson - brilliant read. Sadly he died unexpectedly after completing the trilogy. Must be read in order.

I read a very good kindle book called "A commonplace killing" by Sian Busby.   Sian was the wife of Robert Peston the BBC  Political Editor.  She died of cancer just before she finished the book, but had all the notes for the end, so Robert finished if from her notes.  He tells you all about her at the beginning of the story.
Story is set just after the war and the atmosphere she creates is so good.  It tells of a murdered woman and then the detective story starts.  I thoroughly enjoyed the read and am so sorry Sian will not be writing more books.

Have you read anything by Linwood Barclay, I defy you to work it out before the end!

On the basis that you merely wish to make backup copies of books you've already purchased, and not for you to distribute to all and sundry, try using Calibre Book Management software and one the plug ins for it:

How to Strip the DRM from Your Kindle Ebooks for Cross-Device Enjoyment and Archiving (http://www.howtogeek.com/162994/how-to-strip-the-drm-from-your-kindle-ebooks-for-cross-device-enjoyment-and-archiving/)

Book piracy is bad and never condoned on CBF  ;)

I will certainly be going with some more Michael Connelly books - either the Harry Bosch or the Mickey Haller series (the Lincoln Lawyer was made into a film), although they are intertwined and best read in order.  Really good American detective/lawyer crime thrillers - always a good holiday read and well written.  I am on to book 22 in the series and has taken me a few years - so they must be good - I am a slow reader and only read on holidays!

Here is a link to the Amazon page with a series list if you're interested http://www.amazon.co.uk/All-MICHAEL-CONNELLYs-books-Order/lm/RJRDGXJ844214 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/All-MICHAEL-CONNELLYs-books-Order/lm/RJRDGXJ844214)

My OH reads alot more than me so a Kindle for him is almost essential.   What we do is have both Kindles registered on one Amazon account and then download the books that we need onto each device. If both of us are interested in a particular book, (we both read Michael Connelly) we can then both download it without purchasing it twice.    8) 8) 8)

I have all the michael connelly books in e format if anybody would like them. Harlan coban is another author who keeps you guessing til the end. Jo Nesbo is a fabulous read too , the only one I havent read is The Bat, his first in the Harry Hole series but unavailable in ebooks until very recently, if anybody would like to share.

William Diehl. He is one fantastic writer, or I should say was because he died quite young and all his works are about 30 years old now. His subjects went from WW2 nazi sleeper cells living in the USA to small town saga's. One of the best reads "Eureka" and if you like a spy thriller try "27" if you can get hold of them. He wrote "sharky's machine" and "primal Fear" both great movies starring burt reynolds and richard gere

Anyone tried Phil Rickman he has an excellent series of books about a female deliverance priest (or exorcist as they used to be called) it's part crime story with a possible hint of the supernatural. Well recommended....

Stephen Leather, his Spider Shepherd series are great. Wilbur Smith, Those in peril and Vicious circle are brilliant, not his usual type of book.

I really enjoyed Marrgies recent recommendation - Harlan Coban 'The Woods' thank you! I also really like the Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowling) books. Lianne Moriarty has some nice, easy holiday reads out too. I've just read three!

Lotty, Another good author I came across recently is Tami Hoag. Piccked up a couple of her books at The Animal Aid table top sale.

The 1st Victim Kindle edition is available from Amazon 99p. Give her a whirl, don't think you will be disappointed.
