Thanks for all the birthday wishes.

After 14 years we have decided to have a change this coming winter. Nothing to do with all the problems but I must admit the "red tape" was beginning to get to us. We are heartbroken to see what is happening in Turkey at present.

We are trying Portugal, we  have rented a cottage in the hills just north of Lagos on the Algarve. There will be no eating out 3/4 times a week like we did in Turkey. On the plus side we can take the car on the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander that will save hiring one.

I'm sure we will get back to Turkey one day but at our age we can't plan to far ahead. I won't mention green bananas again.

Good to hear from you again Don! Sorry you're not coming to Turkey, but understandable. How long is your stay in Portugal? I've never been there but I thought that food and drink there was quite comparable to Turkey, is that not the case? Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised. Anyway have a fantastic time both of you and take care driving, you're much braver than me!  :D :D
