Thank you that is great, I will sort out the blackberry before I leave.

Do you also know where I can buy a 3G  sim for  the iPad , for internet use, while I am there?

In Fethiye, just behind where the Watertaxi drops you off (where all the banks are), plenty of mobile shops there. I'm sure others will be able to recommend one though

One last question. Your iPad, it is a 3G version for sure (does it have a sim card in the top?) if so, where was it purchased as if not from Apple directly or though their store it may be locked to the current network provider so a Turkish sim will not work

You are so thoughtful !
This is an IPad 2 with 3G and bought from Apple in the UK.
During a trip to Madrid and Tenerife in January I bought a Yoigo sim for 20 euros including 20 euros credit and top up option of 8 euros for a month.  It worked in both locations and will come with me to Spain whenever I travel there.
I assume the Turkish one will be good, therefore.
Seems I am likely to have a library of sim cards though going forward.
Pity but if that is what it takes.
