Am I just being a humbug?

I'm not a sports fan and don't see how there is the money for all of this, but seriously what are they thinking of?

They have been testing the rain cloud over my house this week. It works well, rather too well. Will the Olympic opening ceremony have traditional British floods as well?

Oh the lily ponds of Suffolk, And the mill-ponds of the West
 Are part of Britain's heritage, The part we love the best;
 Her river banks and sea-shores; Have a beauty all can share.

 Provided there's at least one boot, Three treadless tyres,
 A half-eaten pork pie, Some oil drums,
 An old felt hat, A lorry load of tarblocks
 And a broken bedstead there!

There will be no Olympics - travelers will occupy the site the week before.

Bejing it aint!!! I think it is crap, they might just have well put in Tower Hamlets and homless people sitting under bridges!!!  It beggars belief that this represents Great Britain.  When I think of all the wonderful architural buildings we have in this country like York Minster, Big Ben, Edinburgh Castle to name a few I had visions hundreds of synchronised people emulating these.  I am sure the person who thought this up must have also designed the Millenium Dome.

My bug bear in all this is that they intend to use 'Live' animals in the opening ceremony!  With all the lights, music, noise it must be animal abuse!!!  I really hope they do not get spooked and run into the crowd!!!

Mine too.
Care 2 have petition against it. I've signed, and hared on Facebook. Hope others do the same.
Apparently the animals will be auditioned and will have been used to country fairs etc.
I think the number of people and noise at the opening ceremony might be a tad different.
